My 40" Samsung LCD HDTV clicks with the red power light flashing when I power on. It takes about 3-5 mins for the picture to finally come on. Why is that?

you can open the back cover of the tv using with a phillip screw driver. to check weather their are bulging electrolytic capacitors at the power supply board.
I have found that the LN series of Samsung TV's have several power supply issues. Sometimes you get lucky and it is just the capacitors but other times the regulators or damper diodes fail. This isn't something I would tell you to fix on your own. These SMPS are very sensitive and if you get in the wrong area you may end up having to replace the whole board instead of repairing it. Joe
Most likely failed capacitors in the power supply. I am currently having the same problem with my 26 month old LN46A750. Samsung has agreed to fix this as an out of warranty "courtesy repair".
This is the capicator $1.50. You have to take off the back, sauter off the capicator (you'll see it because it is poking out) and sauter on the new one. I found the fix on this web-site.
Mine was doing that then it quit even turning on too so I replaced the 4 Capacitors today on the power supply board that had bulged up on the top 3 had split open they where on the top right corner of the board where the ribbon jumps from the power board to the main board with ones from Jameco Part Number 606521 they worked perfect but make sure you put them in with the correct polarity easy to do just keep an eye on it. Very simple repair and took me about 30 min to take itapart solder on the new ones and put it back together all for under $10.
