Have MS Office 2007 but want MS Office 2003 toolbars

I have MS Office 2007, but I cannot get used to the new toolbars or "ribbon".
Is it possible to make it look like MS Office 2003?

Thanks

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

To be honest there is no longer toolbar available, Office 2007has come up with the feature called ribbons because of the new features included in Office 2007, Office 2003 toolbar cannot take it. Infact you have to live with it because Office 2010 which is gonna be releasing in 4-5 months will have ribbons.

Previous solution is right in that you can't make it look like 2003. What I have done is add frequently used commands to the toolbar. It will somewhat mimic 2003 and get you through the change over until you get used to finding the commands you are looking for.

To add commands to the toolbar:
Mouse over the 'quick access toolbar' and right click
Select 'customize quick access toolbar'
You will have a comprehensive list of commands you can add to the toolbar

Well. in this case the new look it the most problematic issue for any user taht previwsly had office xp, office 2003. you can't change the apparience. just the colors. if at least you want to use your favorite color. this is how !

You can customize the appearance of the Office Fluent Ribbon in Microsoft Office Access 2007, Microsoft Office Excel 2007, Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, or Microsoft Office Word 2007 by selecting one of the available color schemes.

example
Word

  1. Click the Microsoft Office ButtonHave MS Office 2007 but want MS Office 2003 toolba - default.aspx?assetid=za100771021033, and then click Word Options at the bottom of the window.

Are you using Microsoft office 2007,2003 or 2000?

WORD 2007: SHORTCUTS FOR SPELLCHECK

WORD 2007 TIP: HOW TO USE SHORTCUTS FOR SPELL-CHECK

Spell-check has been around for years; however, it just keeps getting better! Microsoft Office 2007 Spell-check is even more intuitive and easy-to-use. You'll find Spell-check by clicking on the Review Tab located on the Ribbon, and then select Spelling and Grammar from the Proofing Group. If you don't use Spell-check very often, you may have trouble remembering which Tab to click on (I know that I do).

As a trainer, I've learned that each individual works differently. That's why I like to present different methods of performing the same task, especially if it can save time and help a student work more efficiently.

I personally think it's much easier to simply press the F7 key to initiate Spell-check. That's because I favor keyboard shortcuts. Some students prefer to create customize toolbars with their favorite features. In Word 2007, you can't customize the Ribbon, however you can customize the Quick Access Toolbar:

1. Start MS Word 2007

2. Go to the Customize Quick Access Toolbar button
(It's located at the top left of the screen and it looks like a small arrow with a bar on top of it.)

3. Select Spelling & Grammar from the list.

4. You should see a Spelling & Grammar button appear on the Quick Access Toolbar.

5. The next time you want to use SpellCheck, just click on the new button you created.
Both of these shortcuts will save you time to help you work more efficiently!

Happy Computing!

The Main Four Differences Between Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Office...

The Main Four Differences Between Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Office 2003
There are few differences between Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Office 2003. As we know, some new features have been added to MS-Office 2007. The appearance has also been improved. This tips is only created for those who are not familiar with Office 2007 so that they can learn it easily.
The main four differences are;
Menu bar :
See the picture below:
d5c6c35.jpg
Ribbon :
The ribbon with a Logo in MS-Office 2007, the normal drop down menus in MS-Office 2003 has been replaced. Most people who have been using Office 2003 got confused with this since we cannot see the File Menu button where we can directly select New, Open, Save, etc. But those are still there with the ribbon. This interfaces makes us easier while using the office suite. When we click the Ribbon (Office logo) on the extreme top left corner we will see the following bottons :
8c290cf.jpg
XML file Format :
When we talk about Office 2003, it means .doc file extension. Now a new file format has been added called .docx. If we save any file or data in this format, we can’t read or open it using previous versions of Microsoft office. But don’t worry, there are still the old file formats as well. And we can open the previous versions file format in Microsoft Office 2007. So if you are transferring a MS office file to another user or sending it through email, it’s best to sent it as .doc so that anyone who is using any version of Microsoft Office can open and read it.

If you ever come across more differences, please leave a comment so that we can help each other better. Good luck to you all.

To create your own toolbar:
  1. Click the Toolbars tab on the Customize dialog box.
  2. Click the New button, and then type a name for the toolbar.
  3. Click the Commands tab, and drag buttons and commands to the toolbar.
