48 inch Hitachi rear projection tv picture goes out.

My older model 48 inch rear projection tv works fine if it sits for a long time but eventualy the picture will go out. The sound is on but gets a little quieter. What are the possibe issues and how much will itcost to fix?

It sounds like a lot of stuff for a diagnosis, is it an older projection TV? Don't believe it would be the bulb with the fact the sound is affected. May be time for an upgrade!

A model number would help here but if it is older and uses 3 picture tubes carefully with the back off and set on does the red one come up and produce a red image?

Tv makes buzzing noise then picture fades and eventualy shuts off
Ur colors wheel is dead,must call tech.for this is very difficult to take out,and replaced have no tv tech. experience.Best to call tv shop service,to replaced this colors wheel,and have warrenty on it.

I have a hitachi 51 inch rear projection while watching tv the screen goes black at that time i swiched ti another input (dvd) and it was fine so i swiched back to tv and after about 2 minuts the screen...
possibly or somehow the connection was changed. (you may have sat on the remote or something of the sort) that changed the channel

veecorr i had the same problem it cost me $300 to fix i only fixed it because my buddy repaired it for me he told me that these tv's are a very good make so that's why i fixed it it's like new again.
