I have a Sharp Carousel and the turntable does not turn on model R-930AK-P

You may have a defective turntable motor, a defective turntable motor coupler, or a defective turntable roller assembly.

You can find helpful Parts diagrams and order Sharp parts from Sears here:

My over the stove Sharp Carousel Model # R-1505F turn table stopped turning. What part do I need to replace. Also, I broke the glass turn table plate. What size is that and where can I order another...

Sears Parts Direct has the parts diagrams and many parts for the R-1505 microwave. The glass plate is part 4-3 ($33.99) on this page: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Sharp-Parts/Microwave-Parts/Model-R1505/0958/0123370/50019999/00001?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= .

Without more tests, I can't be completely positive but the turntable motor is the likely problem. That is part 1-4 on the list above. However, it could be a wiring problem with the wiring to the turntable motor.

Partstore.com has many of the parts as well: http://www.partstore.com/Model/Sharp/Sharp/R1505.aspx .

I hope this helps.

Microwave lights, clock, and everything works except when you press start, it just counts down like its cooking, but the microwave is actually not on. No hum as usual or plate rotating. It just counts...

Hi, one of the most common reasons why the turntable won't rotate is that the microwave isn't clean. The turntable guide and carousel can get sticky, preventing the turntable from properly moving. If you have built-on food particles or liquids, fill a bowl with 2 or 3 cups of water and 1 tsp. of liquid detergent and lemon. Run the microwave for about 3 minutes. Clean the microwave with a cloth, including the base of the turntable, guide, carousel grooves and microwave base. Your microwave turntable won't rotate if the grooves on the base of the turntable do not sit right on the carousel. Also, check the position of the turntable guide. Place the guide directly under the turntable. Remove the turntable, and then reposition it into the carousel grooves.
Motor The carousel motor is located beneath the base plate of the microwave. If the carousel isn't turning at all, check the motor. Disconnect the microwave from the power source, and remove the turntable, guide and base plate. Try turning the motor to see if it's just stuck. If it doesn't turn freely after a few seconds, examine the motor to see if it's burned out or corroded. Use an ohmmeter to see if the motor has continuity. If not, you must replace the motor.
Bushings The drive bushings are plastic components that sit underneath the cooking plate. Remove the plate, and examine the bushings. Use a magnifying glass if necessary to see if any debris is caught in the plastic. Clean the bushings, and reinsert the plate. Turn the microwave on to see if it rotates. If the bushings are extremely worn or if some of the plastic is broken off, you need to replace it, which is a complicated repair for consumers. Contact a service technician for assistance.

How do you turn the carousel on/off on a Kenmore Microwave Oven model: 5658932580

Look at the owner's manual of similar Kenmore models there does not seem to be a setting that allows you to turn off the turntable. However if your microwave (sorry but I couldn't find your exact model number online) has the time of carousel that has a lift out glass plate with a notch (hub) in the center of the bottom side then you effectively turn of the carousel my removing this glass plate. (see pg 4 of the manual - above link) You can place a normal microwave safe plate in the microwave in it's place. Make sure to leave the rollers in place...just remove the turntable.

Convection microwave turntable does not turn. Makes a clicking noise.

Try removing the turntable plate, and then lift up on the roller assembly that the plate sits on. These roller assemblies are usually made of plastic, and often times the center "axle" (the part that goes down into the hole in the bottom of the microwave) breaks or cracks. If it looks like this piece is cracked or broken, just take it down to an appliance repair store (or just write down the model # of your microwave and bring it with you). Replace the roller assembly, and you're good to go.

You can also find these roller assemblies online pretty easily as well, and they're usually under $10 USD.

Good Luck.

Glass turnable replacement

This answer assumes your model is MW8168B - if not, please reply back with your correct model number!

The original part number was shown as M0S0885 (or MOS0885) but it is listed as "no longer available".

In some cases, two microwave-safe plates can serve as a makeshift replacement for a missing tray. You have to find a saucer that fits securely on your turntable support, though. I've attached a photo.

One last option would be a Nordicware or Rubbermaid or similar wind-up carousel. Wal-Mart had them when I checked a few months ago, and you can probably still find them on Google's Froogle site at http://froogle.google.com by searching for the key words: wind-up turntable.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
