Receiver does not sense the remote even after buying a new remote.

My Vr-505 senses the remote intermittently. It'll work for 10 minutes, then quit. Next time, it might not work at all. It's been like this for over a year, and I thought it was the remote itself, but it's clear that it's the receiver, not the remote. (I bought a universal remote, and it only controls the receiver intermittently, too.)

Remote not working, or not being received by Receiver. I've replaced the batteries with new ones, but still no joy.

I have had this problem, and found this on FixYa during a google query. The only other solution caused me to stop and check it out, but there is not enough information to really repair the receiver.

I found another page through another forum that showed me how to fix my receiver, and I now have a functioning remote control after many years without.

The original page with all the info is : http://mysite.verizon.net/amp68/ . I reproduce it here as we all know web pages can easily disappear. I make no claim other than the fix worked for me, too.

I quote his page below:

How to fix the remote control problem with the Kenwood VR-507 Receiver The Kenwood VR-507 receiver has a very high remote control failure rate. The issue is not with the remote control itself, but with the IR receiver on circuit board inside the receiver.
Well, my friends, there is HOPE! A simple resolder of the three pins for the IR receiver will quite happily fix the problem quite premanently.
All you need to do, is remove all the screws that holds the cover on, and remove it.
The you can remove the front of the receiver from the frame and lay it down somewhere to work on. There are some wires you will need to disconnect. Make sure you mark them, so that you reconnect the to proper spot later.
Then, looking at the handy picture below, you should see exactly which pins need to be resoldered! I have sent this picture to 4 different people and resoldering has fixed the problem for ALL of them.
Here is the picture of part of the circuit board:

I've just fixed mine after seeing others with the same problem. Due to thermal expansion, the solder joints on the main circuit board controlling the remote have probably separated. Remove the receiver's cover and use a magnifying glass to inspect the solder for cracks. They are a group of three joints (1 mm apart) in a horizontal line about 1/3 of the way from the left (looking from the rear) and about 3/4 of the way up. Good luck!

LCD2710HDAF television will not respond to remote control

Hi Alan,
Here are a few steps to troubleshoot.

1) Make sure that the new batteries are correctly installed.
2) Make sure that there is a line-of-sight between the remote and the TV while operating.
3)Not recommended- but might work. Give your remote a little shake. If there is a small circuit loose connection it will be adjusted. :P I do this all the time.
4) Buy a new remote. You can buy a universal remote which are available on the market. They are cheap. It will NOT be harmful to your TV.
OR
you can buy a genuine one.

Onkyo Codes for Samsung remotes?

Hi, unfortunately this remote does not have the ability to program to your Onkyo receiver. You must use your original Onkyo remote to control the volume of it. If you need a new Onkyo remote you can purchase one from Replacement Remotes. You can also buy a universal remote to program and work for both your units, so you will not have to keep switching back in forth between remotes. If you would like a universal I suggest getting the RFS200, this remote will even work if your receiver is not in direct line of site.

Remote for Volvo V90 1998 broken, so say the Volvo shop folks. They say it cannot be fixed, but don't know what's wrong with it. Can i get this puppy fixed?

folks are selling used remotes for all cars on eBay. they run about 10 bucks, they are higher on a volvo, but that is at it should be. I would agree that to repair the thing would have to sent out and would cost even more to repair than a new one costs. get a used remote and have them teach your car to "know" its new remote, in the biblical sense. if the car's receiver is bad then you are going to have to search on ebay until you find someone selling a used one, buy it and have it installed. there are a lot of folks selling used parts on eBay, their hobby is to scavenge junkyards for parts. So find a seller who is selling volvo parts and email him telling him what you want and he will go find one for you and give you a price.

Hello there, i have purchased an iTgate TGC 200 broken remote

If you cannot find the original remote, I suggest you buy a universal remote like the Logitech Harmony. Even the cheaper Harmony models will be able to control your receiver. Programming the remote is easy and done on your computer.

Neither my Harmon remote or my Logitech universal

Use the help function on your Logitech remote.
Need more information on specific problem to go much further.
Check for tight speaker connections on back of receiver.
Some units have fault sensing; causing 'drop out' preventing A/V receiver from turning out. Typically this is characterised by a clicking sound after receiving an IR signal.
Using high volume levels can affect speaker connections, especially at the back of the A/V unit connectors and banana speaker wire connections.

Hampton bay ceiling fan with built-in remote receiver

In case someone else stumbles upon this:
I replaced the remote receiver on one of these fans. jb is right just the top housing that touches the ceiling needs to be removed. Twist it counter clockwise and pull down. You'll see all the wires and the remote receiver. It might not seem like much room to work with, but you can remove the wires and slide the receiver out sideways to replace it or if you can't see the dip switches. Too bad Home Depot is too cheap to even provide instructions when they send you the replacement remove receiver.
