Is your barrel a smoothbore or rifled? If rifled, you'll get better accuracy with one of the sabot type slugs. Otherwise, shoot what your gun is most accurate with.

I am looking for a manual for a Mossberg Model 500 HS410

Mossberg.com will get you set up. But you won't really need one. Just hit youtube and watch some videos on the Mossberg 500. Yours is a .410 caliber model 500. Nice gun. Congrats!

What is the difference between a Mossberg 500 and a Mossberg 535 max 4.

The 535 is simply a slightly stretched model 500. It can chamber and fire 3.5" shells where the 500 will only handle up to 3" shells. The guns are identical in function and pretty much identical in parts except the stretched bits.

Winchester 12 ga defender mod 1300 mfg. date

I think you might have better luck contacting winchester support or one of the bigger gun stores or even an online gun forum as this isn't quite a spotting scope question ;-]

http://www.winchesterguns.com/customerservice/index.asp

They should be able to tell you if the barrel is available and maybe how much or what dealer has one.

The 1300 was made from 1978 to 2006 so that should narrow down the date at least.

I can't get scope to set el9vation

Just a feeling here so don't cuss me (lol)....try turning the adjust knob "the other way". Just take your screwdriver or your quarter or whatever you're using and turn the adjust screw ALL THE WAY THE OTHER WAY and see where it hits. If it's moved, proceed to adjust it. Word of warning, though....a shotgun isn't going to move the crosshairs much at all in its intended range. Shooting it at 30 yards or so, you're going to have a hard time with ANY scope. A slug at 60-100 yards, you would see an adjustment but not shot at close ranges

I'm using a red dot scope on a mossburg turkey gun with a choke. I'm using the 3'' heavy tungston loads for longer distance shots. What distance should i zero in the scope at? 20 yards? 30 yards? 40 yards?...

I set my sights for 30 yards.40 yards is a long shot because you always aim for the head when hunting turkeys.Good luck with the Mossberg.I traded mine for a Remington.Still got a Mossy for a "loaner" or a backup gun for a client. The 3.5 magnums are simply too punishing to the shooter.
