My emerson EWV603 vcr. When I turn it on or when I insert a videocasette, the screen is blue. How do I get to the menu stuff so that I can program my vcr?

Sounds like your VCR & TV are on different channels.
The VCR's ouput is channel 3 or 4. Try turning your TV to either channel and see if you get a picture. OR try playing the tape and after 2 or 3 seconds, push the play button again for a few seconds to change the VCR's ouput channel.

Emerson EWV603-how do I change the channel receiving signals from 4 to 3?

On the back of the unit there is a small switch which will allow you to select either channel 3 or 4.

I have recently moved to another state and need to change my channel that receives signals from 4 to 3. how do i do that? thanks.

My Emerson EWV603 VCR came up on channel 3.
My manual says to put a tape in, push play at the VCR.
After 2 or 3 seconds, push play again AT THE VCR. This
changed my default channel to 4. Maybe you can do the
same to go from 4 to 3.

Blue screen

Change TV viewing channel to 3 or 4. If this works your VCR's output channel got changed during storm. If this is the case, review previous answers to prblems with this VCR.

Change recording speed

The only solution to this problem is to buy a new remote from the manufacturer. Aftermarket remotes that I have looked at: RCA, PHILLIPS, SONY, etc do not have a speed select button for the VCR. (which IMHO is stupid) Come on aftermarket people- it cant be that hard to program a speed select button!

Time

Most VCRs of the last 10+ years are programmed via the remote box. If you have the matching remote, there should be a button which brings up an on-screen menu where you can select various functions such as setting the time/date, tape speed, channel programming, and the unattended recording you desire. Take a look here for an online manual: http://www.emersonaudiovideo.com/pdf/om/EWV603.pdf

VCR will not work

If you have tryed this with your VCR then Im guessing that there is a power supply issue. In most cases, a VCR would not be worth the repair or the diagnostic fee to inform you on how much the vcr will cost to repair. If you really want to playback VCR format buy a new one with a built in DVD recorder, buy some inexpensive DVD blanks, and put those Video tape onto the DVD format and they will never ever fade.
