same problem ,tried to reset still the same.

  • Anonymous Sep 09, 2008

I have exactly the same problem. I noticed it started right after I downloaded the so called "update software" from the Navman web site. I called Navman for suggestions on how to solve the problem, and they gave me none. They want to charge me 145 dollars to fiz the problem. I told them that for 40 more I can buy a newer, bigger and better unbit from Garmin at my local Costco. "Fine", they said. They are terrible. I will stay away from this company's products from now on.

Hi,

I think that the micro SD card inside the GPS is not in the good position, it is necessary to remove the grey sticker on the rear of the GPS and open the hood to access the SD card and then you can plug it in good position.

Had this same problem with my F20. When I read some of the other entries I though "what a bunch of Jokers"....give it a good bang and it will work. Yeah right..............but guess what ????
I gave mine a good bang and hey presto, good as new. From now on, when anything of mine stops working I'm going to give it a good bang (that includes the missus !)
Thanks guys.

Same here - bashed it on the desk and hey presto - just like new.
But..... I will never buy a Navman product again - EVER!
Not only is the system so volatile, the maps you get with the system are totally out of date. Anybody know where I can get copies of New Maps?

It looks like several of us experienced the "internal memory failure" problem with our Navman F20 right after downloading upgrades from Navman.com
When I called them they told me that nobody else had had this problem and that I was the only one reporting it. They made me beleive my problem was one in a million. But by the number of complaints posted I see that a lot more people than just myself have experienced this problem. Do you think Navman is posting an upgrade that corrupts our devices once we downnload "software upgrades form their website so that we are forced to pay them $145.00 to fix it?
If this theory is true, I smell a class acton suit to Navman. Shall we get in contact with each other and discuss this problem further? If we get enough proof about it, may be a lawyer would be interested in our case, don't you think?
Let's show this company they can't treat their costumers like this.

Hey, I tried this and it worked for me ... switch off the navman. Press the bottom RH button (with the up arrow or chevron symbol). Switch on while button still depressed.

My nav man worked fine for 2 years but as soon as i donwloaded the so called @update@ this problem accoured. Navman will not take responsibility and i and my friends and family will never buy another navman product again. I think they purposly f***** up my navman by corrupting it with their updates

Same problem with mine...'unable to detect internl memory'
I hadnt read the post above re banging the unit but my fix may give the same result, different course of action.
I thought, maybe if a disconnect the battery, let the unit die, then re-connect. (this often works with industrial electronics)
Took the back off and the battery is connected to the circuit board with a connector. Disconnected, left for 5 minutes then re-connect. At the same time i made sure the memory card in there was secure...it seemed to be.
Turned it back on....it works !!!
So, it may have been a poor connection, and the bang everyone is giving their units just re-seats the card or battery connection.
Well worth a try either way...

The same problem. F20 disassembled and tested internal micro SD flash - no file sistem. Restored file sistem, no errors but it look like no maps because smth wrong with files. Digging inet found that software depends on serial number of navman and micro SD.There is no solution to unlock navman F-series and write another program like iGo, Tom Tom :(. Maybe laiter.

F20 navman error

You need to remove the 2 screews from the bottom and then gentley prize the unit apart from teh bottom using a blunt broad knife will help if you cant have the plastic case splitting tools which are used in the trade,

then once apart the same side where the power button is you will see a microsd card its the same as in a mobile phone just pull it down from the top (its hinged at the bottom) then make sure the card is in correctley and then close it back and test (b4 putting the case back on) that will fix it we ahve a lot of these coming in and its where its been dropped etc and jumps out thats it

Error message on Navman Navman F Series Failure Unable to detect internal memory. Please return the unit to dealer. Can anyone help?

I have a F20 here I am currently tring to fix.

The error comes from the internal memory card being faulty.
It is only a micro SD car.

It may be totally usesless, or need re-programming via the USB port.

You can download the firmware, and it fixes a working MicroSD card.

If your card is damaged, then you will have to replace it, and strip the F20 down to do so.
Then you can upload the firmware.

I warn you, though.
Stripping it down is a bit tricky.
I replaced this F20 memory card, and put on the firmware, but have a new error, that it cant find any maps installed.

Hope this helped you
