Samsung HT-X50 System Logo
Posted on Dec 24, 2007

I have a Samsung HT-X50 Surround Sound, a LG 50" Plasma 50PC5D TV, and DISH Network Satellite.

I can play a DVD and the Samsung system works GREAT! BUT... I can not get the Regualr Dish Prgramming to work thru the Samsung system. I have the new HDMI cable installed, is there something I am missing? Is there a way i need to hook up the dish recevier thru the samsung?

I came to find out that thru the HDMI cable, only DVD'S will play. To get the surround sound thru my DIsh programming, I had to use the old red and white RCA cables from the AUDIO OUT jacks on the back of my LG plasma TV to the IN outlet of the HT-X50. It works great now, but I need two remotes or two seperate buttons on the same remote JUST to adjust the volume. I have the HT-X50 remote programmed to my LG TV, but the volumes do not act in synch. Also, HT-X50 echos. It is slower than my LG TV. I know how to slow down the Samsung set, the HT-X50 manual explanis that, but I did not see any method to speed it up. :(

I recently moved and have been setting up my Hi Def LCD TV with the 5.1 Samsung surround sound. I have Bright House cable and the sound won't go through the system, however, when I play a DVD the sound goes through the Samsung player and it sounds amazing! What am I doing wrong??? Everything else seems to be working just fine it's just the sound through the cable.

You need an Optical Audio Cable. Hook one end to the HD Cable Box and the other to your Surround Sound System. If you dont have an Optical Cable to your Cable Box, then try using the usual audio cables. But, I have HD and it worked with the Optical Audio Cable.

My HT-X50 system has a volume problem. The volume is very low, you have to put the speaker to your ear to hear it.

Samsung HT-X50. I just installed a new 50" plasma TV and cabled the digital out to the Samsung HT-X50 digital in via an optical cable. The TV audio is now heard through the HT-X50 speakers but only...

Look into the TV's audio controls. If it was my setup, I'd NOT send audio through the TV to the hifi, nor video through the hifi to the TV. Additional hops and interconnects cause problems even though they're theoretically transparent.

Hooking Up Panasonic sc-ht670 home theater to Dish DVR 625 and Panasonic TH-42PHD7UY Plasma TV

You will need to run a set of audio cables from the TV1 output on the rear of the 625 directly to one of the three audio inputs on the surround system. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

No sound thru surround sound system in TV Mode

Hi,
You need to connect your TV to the AUX connection in the back of your HT system. Then set your HT system on AUX 1 and wait about 5 seconds for the TV sound to come through. If it does not work on AUX 1, you may have to try on AUX 2 or AUX 3 settings on your HT system. Make sure the A/V cable you use is good and in working order and is a good quality cable.
Hope that helps, Gary

I cant get my samsung home cinema system to play through my t.v

I bought the optical audio cable ($15 WalMart) and use the Digital In on the DVD player to play the sound through the surround system and turned the TV speakers off. Works great! The optial audio has square ends and looks transparent with just one round shaped cable that goes from the TV to the back of the DVD player.

CAN ONLY GET THE SURROUND SOUND TO WORK WITH DVD'S NOT WITH NORMAL TV OR SKY?? WHY??

You should have a AUDIO menu in which you can simulate true surround sound. This should be in your owners manual. Your DVD is recorded in dolby surround sound that's why on your set it will be reproduced as recorded. I hope Samsung is using a ATSC tuner in that model?
