Wonder if it is worth keeping this device [Compaq iPAQ PA-2 64 MB MP3] or if I can still use it. Is it possible to maintain 2 Win media player versions on 1 PC [older Win media player v 7 works with iPAQ PA 2, version 11 is most recent] w/o conflicts?

I have the same situation. Although it would have been a good .mp3 player to give to my daughter, I do not think it worth my (or your) time when they have higher storage and smaller bodies for cheap now days.
If you're hell-bent on making it work on those new OS's then your best shot is downloading RioPort Audio Manager 3.3 (or later) because Windows Media dropped it's driver support after version 7 (it's version 11, now). RioPort is what I used before I got a hold of iTunes.
Good Luck!

Yes.
It got an inbuilt memory of 64 MB and it got expansion slot to expand the memory.
I hope this will solve your issue.
Good Luck.
If my solution proves useful please accept it.
