I have a cruzer micro 16Gb flash drive with 14.9Gb

I have a Sandisk cruzer micro 16Gb flash drive with 14.9Gb spare capacity but when I try to move a 5Gb file I get an error advising destination has insufficient disk space. I have cleared the trash and reformatted but issue persists. Any ideas?

Did you reformat as NTFS instead of the default FAT32? FAT32 can only transfer files up to 4.0Gb in size. If you reformat as NTFS, you can move larger files.

If you have recently purchased this item on the internet, it is possible that it is a fake memory device. If you brought it from a reputable retailer then it may be faulty. To test the capacity, you can use a program called h2testw which you can download from my skydrive or the internet. Google h2testw.

Want to remove U3 software and completely wipe SanDisk Cruzer Micro flash drive.

Try using a tool like Rufus http://rufus.akeo.ie/ to format the drive to its full capacity. There are links on the page to other usb utils.

I have sandisk cruzer 16gb. When i try to copy file more then 2gb i get an error: the disk in the destination drive is full. why I'm getting this error? thanks

If the flash drive is not full its because the format that a flash drive uses is FAT32 and that wont let you copy anything over 2Gb's im pretty sure

I have a 16GB Cruzer Flash Drive. When I try to transfer a file that is just under 8GB to the Flash stick, it tells me there isn't enough room....

Check the propeties of the Flash drive. It it most probably formatted using the FAT32 file system, which does not allow files larger than 2GB.
There is a way to format a flash drive using NTFS file system, but you will lose some capacity of the drive, and transfer speed will be a bit slower, gaining in return a possibility to transfer larger files.
Go to the following webpage for instructions:

SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro USB I/O device error

I would recommend plugging your Cruzer into another computer. It's possible that your computer has corrupted or incorrect drivers for the flash drive. This is one cause of the yellow alert in Device Manager. If you move the flash drive to another machine and it works, you can save your data and make a backup copy. If your Cruzer doesn't work in a different computer (I would try at least 2 other working computers), it's possible that the flash drive is faulty.

Can't open my sandisk cruzer 16gb

Dont worry about being prompted, that is an OS option and you may of turned off by accident. When you insert the flash drive into your USB port, does th elight on the drive ligh up? If not your flash drive may of gone bad.

If it does light up, click on "My Computer" and see if it shows up there.
