My computer screen is not coming on but the computer is on. The computer beeps three times when on 1 short beep and 2 long. Does any one know what this means?

1 long, 2 short beeps: Display adapter problem (MDA, CGA)

The beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the RAM , all the memory in the RAM is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active until turned off. WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules Make sure that your RAM modules and Cmos battery are securely seated on some motherboards Cmos batteries are soldered in. Test all power and data leads that attach from Motherboard to your Hard Drive SATA Make sure they have a secure dust free connections.
Check the graphics card is seated properly with no dust in the socket you might have to remove it to check for dust reinstall it. Restart your computer the found new hardware wizard should activate.

Ya i can hear the fan switchin on actually it there is a certain sound that beeps when it is workin properly but now it doesnt beeps, my monitor just shows ''off mode''

dear friend it seems that you have a problem with either a RAM or your Display Crad
Most probably with the RAM

gaganddun_2.jpg
Switch off your computer
remove the RAM and clean both RAM and the slot i think there may be some dust particles present. clean them with a soft cloth, now place it back on the mother board as you removed it
just see the slot for the cuts generall SD ram have 2 cuts and DDR ram have 1 cut a bit out of centre.

also do the same with the display card

thanks

I turn my computer on and the monitor has no VGA or DVI input and the monitor goes to sleep

May be in "RAM". Did you tried by removing the RAM. If not try this remove the RAM and wipe up the dust and fit it again. And If you do not get the single initial beep, that means the motherboard is not working and that's why you don't get a display. No initial (POST) beep indicates a hardware problem, usually (but not always) with the power supply or motherboard.

My emachine will not come on-just makes beeping sounds every few sec. is it my hard drive

When you here a beeps during turn on that is a RAM problem. So you need to check the RAM remove it first and clean the dust. Use also the other memory slot

Please pull out the memory and clean the silver coating pins with a rubber eraser to clean dust and stains that causes disconnection.

Pc boots but no display. tried a new video card, still wont work. ram or motherboard?

Hi.
To start the troubleshooting,
Do one thing.
Clear the cmos.
To clear the cmos, remove the battery and the cmos jumper. You will see JCC on the mb and it is attached to pin 1&2
You can Short it to pin 2&3 or remove it completely.
Don't forget to remove the power-cord from the power supply while clearing the cmos. together with the cmos bat & jumper.
After that try a different ram and a different vga card.
At times dust get accumulated in the slot that prevent firm contact with the vga slot or the memory bank.
Use a clean paint-brush and blow away the dust on the card, the mem and also the slot in the mb.
Fix it firmly.
try this
If you need further assitance revert back
Good luck

When I turn on my computer it does nothing but make a buzzing alarm sound about every 5 seconds. It doesn't go to the start up screen or anything.

Hi,
The buzzing alarm is a beep code which indicates a hardware problem.
Try removing the system memory and clean the brass contacts and the slots it goes into, then reseat the memory and try to boot again, the memory looks like this >>>>>>>

6348121.jpg

What you need is a soft, clean, dry paintbrush.
Remove the powercord from the back of the PC.
Start by removing the ram and clean the contacts with the brush, then clean the brass contacts, reset the memory and the powercord and try booting the computer.
If it still won't boot count the beeps and how long they are and post back here.

Regards.

Turn on computer-wouldn't boot

Hello,
This beeping sound is usually due to the ram, either it is bad or dirty. Get somebody to check it or open the case and remove the ram, clean it with a dry cloth and reseat it back. If you cleaned it and it still is doing the same thing, then the ram may be faulty and will need to be replaced.

Hope you solve this issue.

PC beeping, monitor will not display

we have different sound we can hear in cases of hardware problem, once the video card has loose contact it also beep continously, a beep sound also occurs when the ram(memory card) loose contact, one beep sound when it boot clearly it proceeds as go signal going to operating system. if you are using an upgraded video card remove temporarily and use the on-board from your motherboard. in case that it won't boot and still you hear a beep, beep ,sound then, switch-off the power take out the memory card clean the contact points(bronze color) with pencil eraser, make sure that no remaining residues of eraser remained before you install to the slot. i hope that this solves your problem
