I have a Sony Bravia model KDL-46s5100 that had the same problem. All HDMI ports stopped working. I don't know why this works but unplug the TV for about 30 sec, then plug it back in and hold down the power button on the tv for 10 seconds. Like I said I don't know why this works but it worked for me. Good luck.

I have a sony Bravia mod. KDL-52V5100 and had same problem with HDMI ports. They just stopped working. I called Sony support they had me try several things like resetting the tv, nothing worked. I just tried your trick of un-plugging and it works. THANK YOU!

I have a KDL-40SL 150 and my HDMI ports went out as well, I was worried about the high expense of getting the t.v. fixed and I came across this post. It worked for my set as well. Thanks so much for the useful information.

  • lcbrooks Jan 29, 2011

I had exactly the same problem with my Sony Bravia. I tried your solution and it worked perfectly. Thank you very much!!!

I have a KDL-52V5100 that i purchased in December 2009. The HDMI 2 Port stopped working for no reason. Had no signal. The others were working fine. Followed this trick and it worked. Amazing.

  • allay23 Feb 25, 2011

Wow. Spent 2 hrs on phone w sony w same hdmi ports stopped working issue w/ kdl-52v5100, next step was to call for service (tv out of warranty) when I then happened upon your fix of unplugging the tv..it worked! Thank you!

  • daledw188 Feb 26, 2011

Another success story! Bless the internet and the kind folks who take the time to share their experiences.

After a few days of talk with comcast tech support, power cycling devices, trying dif HDMI inputs and replacing the cable box to no avail.... the unplug the tv trick works... why didn't I think of power cycling the TV...Doh!

  • jsloyer98 Apr 02, 2011

Thank you so much for this post. Just wanted to post to say that this fix seems to work with other sony devices. I have a Sony vpl-bw7 projector that had the HDMI port quit. I gave this a shot just as a hail mary not thinking it would work. 40 seconds later my picture was back. Guess the software has a reset function built in. Again, thank you.

  • scthims Apr 29, 2011

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU - I was so disappointed when my ports randomly stopped working right after my warranty expired - worked like a charm!!

  • sjpo Aug 17, 2011

I just had the same problem on my kdl-32xbr9. I called SONY and they told me to DL and install the latest software update. Now it works beautifully again. The only problem was I went out and bought a new 32:" SONY before I called them and now I have 2 good, working sets.
Go to www.sony.com/esupport and look for the software (firmware) update for your set and follow the instructions. I was told that 99.9 % of the time, this is why the HDMI ports stop talking to your peripherals. This software update might be the answer. Cheers.

  • sjpo Aug 17, 2011

Go to SONY website and find and download the software update for your set. This works. Cheers

This worked for me as well with my Sony TV

  • Anonymous Nov 01, 2011

unbelievable. This post just saved me from buying a new hdmi cable and or then calling vans to figure out what's going on. First our ps3 would get the no signal, then the cable tv started doing it as well. Tried this unplug, power button trick and everything seems to work fine. Awesome, thank you so much.

  • Jkmk0522 Jan 14, 2012

Same problem w/ my Sony kdl-55hx800. Ports went out 1 by 1. At first thought it was an issue w/ new cable provider (recently switched, then first port went out within a week). Then every port I plugged cable box into went out. Wife googled problem and found this link. 30 sec unplug/ 10 sec power up did the trick.

  • Anonymous Feb 26, 2012

OMG!!! we have almost exact model just a v not s (KDL-46V5100) and ALL Same problems!! have DIrect TV and xbox and TV is only 2 years old couldn't figure out what the problem is!! googled the problem came across this post and it so worked!!! THANK YOU!!!!

  • Naruto_nine_tails Jul 03, 2012

I have a Sony KDL-46V5100 TV and suddenly couldn't get my PS3 HDMI input on any port. Unplugging the TV and turning it on by holding the power button for 10 secs worked. Prior I tried everything I could find thinking it was the PS3 that was broken initially (unplugging the PS3, holding down the power on the PS3 for 6 secs to hear a total of 2 beeps while turning it on to reset the video settings, updating the PS3 firmware, bought new HDMI cables, tried incorporating an HDMI switch in the mix [ref:http://www.thebuzzmedia.com/ps3-hdmi-bla...]). I was about to try updating the TV's firmware when I stumbled on the solution. It's all working now and I was afraid to update the firmware since it's a non-reversible option though that might be the solution on your set up.

The unplug/power on for ten seconds trick worked like a champ for me!!! Thanks a lot!!!

Yup! Same here! Thanks for all the help everyone! My boyfriend wanted to switch out our TV for our 32" vizo. I wasn't going down with out a fight! :) Thanks for helping me keep the 60" in our living room!

  • Anonymous Jan 10, 2013

Worked for my Sony Bravia 52". Both my Directv and PS3 would no longer work, but the other devices (Apple TV, Xbox) worked fine. I brought in another directv receiver that worked for a couple of hours, but then quit. I brought down a small TV with HDMI inputs and everything worked on it, so I knew it was the TV. I searched the internet and found this solution. WORKED GREAT! I hope this remedy lasts. Thanks for posting!

  • Anonymous Jul 31, 2013

This worked for me as well. I don't have a power button on my Sony Bravia model, but I simply held down the power button on the remote. It turned on, I kept pressing, and it turned off. When I turned it back on, the problem was fixed. Thank you!

This is why I love the internet. All of a sudden my PS4 wouldn't display on any of the HDMI ports on my Bravia. I checked to see if it worked on three other screens in my home that have HDMI support and it worked 3/3. Problem was the TV. I tried to connect my laptop to the Bravia; still no dice when the laptop also displayed output on the other 3/3 screens. I did a search on Google with the Bravia model number and seems the HDMI ports crapping out is a common problem. Performed the unplug + hold power for 10 seconds, PS4 all of a sudden displays. To whomever Anonymous person posted this, thanks so much for your insight. I'm not sure how you figured this out in order for the HDMI to start working again but your ingenuity saved me and others money and headache.

    It worked !! Thank you.

Unplugging the tv worked for me! Thanks for the help y'all! I got to keep the 60" bravia in the living room instead of switching it out for the 32" vizio that my boyfriend wanted to do. I'm sure he'll pay me back for "fixing" the tv. Thanks again!

TP eze back in 2010 shared a solution to solve HDMI ports stopped working. The suggestion worked. Have same Sony Bravia bought in 2010; in 2015 May, 2 of 3 ports stopped working-- unplug TV for 30 seconds, plug again, press and hold power button on TV for 10 secs, blink, blink, and done. All 3 hdmi ports work now. Thanks from Adele.

Your PS3 working doesn't mean a thing for the cable unless you are using that cable for your PS3. I would bet you have a bad HDMI. They are pretty sensitive to being bent. Try replacing that first. The other thing to check is to first make sure you have the proper input selected on the TV for where you have the HDMI plugged into on your TV.

Try this: got to www.sony.com mouse over "support" then click on "drivers/software" enter your model #(s) and then you can check for firmware updates, the symptoms that you list, unfortunently are somewhat common when connected via HDMI cables.
Check for updates on both product that you list.

In most cases is the screen is covered with vertical lines all the way accross the screen then the T-Con module is at fault. The t-con board is replaceable without having to replace the entire LCD panel which would usually make it cheaper than replacing the TV. The part number I come up with is 1-857-213-11. Sony Bravia KDL 40X2000 HDMI both cutting out

Sounds like a handshake problem with the HDMI outputs on the devices. I have never seen BOTH HDMI inputs have the problem. It could be a problem in the TV where the HDMI signal is processed or the HDMI jacks may have been stressed and this is why you have an intermittent problem. By stressed I mean that the jacks have been bent by inserting the cables wrong or pulling up or down on the cables when they were plugged into the unit.

Toshiba HDTV + SONY PLAYSTATION 3 + SONY Home Theatre DAVHDX265

I have looked up the infomation on your TV I noticed that your TV has two HDMI input plugs. Since your SONY BRAVIA is hooked up to one port, you need to buy another HDMI cable for your PS3. On your tv remote you should have an option to switch from video 1 to video 2 so then you can switch from the SONY BRAVIA to the PS3 the problem is you will only hear your PS3 Sound from you TV. If you want to hear your PS3 sound from your SONY BRAVIA you need to buy an optical cable (also called TOSLINK) to connect from your PS3 to the SONY BRAVIA.

Hope that helps!
