    Sorry, I glossed over the "generic meridian" in the title.

    to clear it press the call soft key below the screen. the screen should display who left the message with two of the soft keys labeled call and erase. press the erase soft key. it's possible the the person/s theat left the message left multiple messages. in that case repeat the procedure til all messages are canceled

check the phone book entries...possible the names are appearing twice in the phonebook...or the format in which nos are saved could be diff from the format of numbers u get message ...eg : u might have stores only no and when u recieve msg it might come with a 0 or country code too

Message light will not turn off even if there is no msg
Not true. The message light WILL turn off when there are no messages. The messages don't have to all come from the voice mail system.

Press MESSAGE and look at the display. It will tell you where the message came from and you can either CALL or CLEAR the message, using the soft keys. When you clear all messages, the light goes out.

I am having N73.......Two days before msg memory was full...I cleared all msgs...Now i don have even a single msg in the phone.........But even nw if i try to send msg,it sits in the outbox without getting...
your phone might be infected with virus, reformat phone will do, also reformat mmc, but make sure if you have some important file back it up on your pc,

hard reset is effective, switch off phone press hold green key, * and 3, switch on while holding this three keys

Saving call log and text messages
You can't save your call log but to save text msgs. you press the blackberry button on the msg. u wanna save then scroll down to save.
BUT if all your msgs., call log and BB msg. are constantly getin deleted the try getting a new battery.

Message Light
Press " Intercom " # 4 0 9 to cancel msg lamp that was not left by voicemail or press the message lamp and when it rings to an internal phone have someone answer it and that will turn off the lamp also.

Message Light won't stop
If you have vmail and no msgs and the only light that is flashing is the light at the top right of the display, what that is flashing for is someone set a msg to your phone from another phone on your system. Try this :

without picking up the handset , dial 43 .
the display should show the ext # that set the msg and an option to reply or clear . press the btn under the display where it says clear and the msg will clear and the light will go out.

Help!
Your phone ran out of memory and the only way the messages could be sent or received is through mms on the phone. You need to clear out the in and out box often so the phone will not do this. Also you must reboot the phone after you have cleared out the in and out box. Then it should work.
