I need to change the channels, however they are locked on ch. 1
I remember part of the instructions, such a:
1. hold the button on the side of the radio
2. turn unit on
3. select channel..........

However they are locked w/ the circle with the line thru it.

I need to know how to unlock, change channel & change PL

    Thanks for your input. These rigs are licensen business band rigs and I have 10 freqs I can use with different PLs.

    I finally got the problem figured out. The rigs freqs are 463.525, PL 136.5

    What I can't figure out is why Motorola did not send the user manual on the internet like the lady I talked to said she would???

    Anyhow you have all been very helpful and I thank each of you,

    Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hi,

On a Motorola AXU Series (including the 4100):
1. To unlock, press the “D” button for about a second or until the circle is gone. The circle with the line thru is the keyboard lock indicator;
2. To change channel, you need to press either the arrow left or right in Normal Mode;
3. To change PL (assigned to a channel), don’t think this can be done by the user
4. To change Ch. 1 from 464.500 MHz (PL-67.0) to 463.525 (PL-136.5), don’t think this can also be done by the user.

Even the built-in Programming Mode Parameters do not have this option to change assigned frequencies and PLs. An external programming software using a PC may or may not allow this.

These radios came pre-loaded with its channels assigned with specific frequencies/PLs. As used in a Motorola AXU411, they are:

Channel Frequency PL
1 464.500 67.0
2 464.500 77.0
3 464.500 88.5
4 464.500 179.9
5 464.500 None
6 464.550 67.0
7 464.550 82.5
8 464.550 94.8
9 464.550 179.9
10 464.550 None

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

How do you change the channel on the AXU4100

Here is a link to the user guide, where you will find the available built-in frequencies, and instructions: http://acsspirit.com/brochures/ax_user_guide.pdf

You can also take your radio to a Motorola dealer and have them program it (custom) using Motorola software and cable designed for this style radio.

It could be as simple as enabling a private line code (PL code) in the radio. You may not need/want to change frequencies. Adding a PL code would block out other users on your frequency. You would not hear them, despite them still being there.

Best regards.

I have a Motorola Axu4100 , I want to change the frequence that I currently have on this radio to a Motorola CP-200...just wondeing if these two radio can work together....

Hi
Motorola CP-200 have frequency range
VHF: 136–162, 146–174MHz;
UHF: 403–440, 438–470, 465–495MHz depending on the model
Motorola AXU4100 have frequency range 435 - 480 Mhz
The first model has a wider frequency range so it is best to include transmitter Motorola Axu4100 to transfer and try to receive signal to Motorola CP-200

Our Company purchased 3 Motorola AXU4100 4 watt 10 channel radios. One radio you can talk out but will not receive a transmission back. The other one will charge but won't come on. Is there a local dealer...

There should be a an Authorized Motorola Dealer in your area. Check your yellow pages under radio communications. It would be a question to whether the local dealer would repair this model.

If you cannot find a local dealer who repairs the AXU4100 style radio, use a search engine to look up Motorola CP125 radio repair. (This is the equivalent radio in the business division.) Flat rate repair for this style radio is approx. $69 ea.

Best regards.

Motorola AXU4100 talkaround mode

One of your programmable buttons, A, B, C or D, should be programmed for the TalkAround feature.

The options are:
Nuisance Channel Delete
PL/DPL enable (on/off)
High/Low Power
Volume Set
Scan
TalkAround

The buttons can be programmed for 2 features, both a long and a short press setting.
