Door won't open after wash and/or spin. Tried switching the main switch off but still stayed locked. Tried spin cycle but still no luck - went shopping and Door Locked light still on when I got back!

Problem seems to have corrected itself! I tried another slow spin cycle, waited a reasonable interval for the Door Locked light to go off, then when it didn't I switched the power to the machine off. I tried squeezing the door catch a few times and pressing the door downwards, then left it. Some time later when I went into the kitchen the door was open. I washed a small load this morning and the machine worked normally. Fingers crossed, it's ok now.

Door or Lid Latch Assembly If the washer lid won't lock the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer door won't lock the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.
Main Control Board If the washer door won't unlock the problem might be the main control board. This is not common. Normally the problem is with the lock mechanism.

Hotpoint WMA33 washer- The machine was in a final spin after a 95 degree wash when the power to the house was tripped by the washing machine, since then the machine will not start, all the lights come on...

Possible the surge would have made some changes in the main processor memory or damaged the processor. You can shut down the washer and remove the plug for few hours. press down all the panel buttons to drain all residual voltage on the board.
If the same fault repeats then it is possible there are errors on the board.

Model fwt645rhso will agitate but won't drain out, on spin cycle washer spins one way, stops goes back the other way, but water will not drain out. Does not rapidly spin on final cycle. Any...

There's an auxiliary switch in the door lock.switch assembly that is activated at the end of the wash cycle for the machine to advance to the spin cycle. The machine will NEVER advance to the spin cycle unless the auxiliary switch is activated as a safety feature to prevent the door from opening during a high-speed spin cycle that may result in physical injury. The drum tumbles back and forth while the machine control checks the auxiliary if activated but since it's not, the control will not command the motor speed control to spin the drum at high speed. These symptoms may indicate a faulty door lock/switch assembly and may need replacement. Hotpoint door not locking

i think the problem from what you saying come from { a water level swith} because it contol also the door from opening when the water is still in the drum so it may need to change from the begining >

WD420 hotpoint door will not open ?

In some cases switching off and back on again solves it. Otherwise try to run Rinse & Spin cycle again, and if after cycle door will stay locked you'll need to check the door lock itself, its wiring and/or main PWB
Please Update me how is it going on this

Door stays looked on washing machine

you will need to remove the top cover and get a screwdriver to move the door latch over. it's a job for an engineer really as you have an electrical problem anyway.

Hotpoint aquarius washer dryer wd63 1100 spin - my fuse went just as i was switching the machine on - so the door locked and wont open - changed the fuse, door was still locked so thought id let the wash...

Try buttons "dry" & "spin" together for a few seconds. This is the child lock display.

Or press "end of cycle" for over 3 seconds.

Or press "options & select" till the light goes off.

Works for other machines..............And please rate me if helped

Door locked light is staying on and door will not open

possible machine has not drained - this will prevent door opening.
put drain hose at floor level into a tray and drain that way then switch off at mains, wait 3 mins and see if door opens

Door will not unlock

It sound like a lid switch problem .A defective lid switch could prevent you to open the door physically and as well will not move to the unlock light. The switch located inside the machine near the door frame. You should open the top panel (open 2 screws and then slide it out) then you will have an access to it . You can test it by multi-meter (it is an on/off switch). In case of a deffective switch, it should be replaced. Be aware that you should remove machine's power cable before starting your test !!!! Good luck !!!
