Hotpoint washer/dryer wd645 has no power to on/off switch. changed plug fuse but still no power. noticed a slight squeal on last wash but cycle completed before power failed.

Could be mains choke. Mains power comes into mahine via wall socket /worth checking this then onto mains filter/Choke..then to switch..So if no power here check this..wish you well

Try the plug in another socket that you know is o/k, if still no go ,then you need to remove top cover and rear panel, and check all connectins to control module/s.
Make sure the door is fully catch is fully engaged, as sometimes the spring can give out in the door handle.
f01 is a motor short circuit. you will probably need a new one and maybe the circuit board that powers it if all the lights went out unless the fuse is gone.
The manual says F08 - Heater relay cannot be activated.The dryer might be having difficulty with this.It is not something that can be fixed.Heater Relay equipment might be damaged.Might have to call a repairman to set this right.Good luck.Do post comments for more help.

Yes, you will need a test meter. unplug machine, remove to, in the middle on top you will see a heater, you will need to test this. there is also a fusable link, that is incorprated in one of the wires that go to the heater. you will also find to thermostats linked through the wiring, one of these may have a reset button on it.
