Need a user's manual for a Sabrent ECS-U35 External Drive Enclosure

Page 1 Congratulations on your purchase of the new Sabrent EC-3US35 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Hard Drive Enclosure! The enclosure provides a secure and lightweight method of transporting and transferring large quantities of data at the fastest possible USB 3.0 speeds, while still being reverse compatible with USB 1.1/2.0. Your computer will quickly detect and configure the connected Hard Drive (Plug & Play) via the USB connection, with no need to restart the computer. Blazing USB 3.0 speeds of up to 5Gbps allow you to effortlessly run files directly from your hard drive, such as, songs, videos, and databases. The aluminum casing effectively dissipates heat, and its compact sleek design with mirror finish replaces the old eyesore hard drive enclosures of old. Tighten the screws to secure the Hard Drive to the base. 4. Slide the base into the outer enclosure, and secure it with the screws. 5. Connect the AC power adapter to the wall and the Enclosure. 6. Turn on the switch to ON. 7. Connect the USB cable to an available USB port on the computer. Page 5 At this point the Hard Drive is completely installed. No Software or Drivers are needed to complete the connection. The Hard Drive Enclosure should appear in Device Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine Manager under the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" as "USB Mass Storage" (There should be no error icon: '?' or '!') and the Hard Drive should appear in "MY COMPUTER" as a new Drive Letter. If the Hard-Drive is brand new you may need to first format it to make the Drive Letter appear. Right-click on MY COMPUTER, Select MANAGE, Go to DISK MANAGEMENT, go to the drive information in the Right column and Right-click on the drive to Initialize, Partition, Assign Drive Letter and Format. We recommend the NTFS file system. At this point you should get the Drive letter in MY COMPUTER.

Maxtor DiamondMax 11 is a SATA Hardisk and you need SATA External Case. After adding the Harddisk, all you have to do is connect it to the system via the cable of the external case. There is no need for additional drivers/ CD as all the external harddisks are 'plug and play'and the Operating System detects them automatically.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Go through the prompts, then have your computers compatability wizard check first. Then look for the drivers properties. Then see if,after it installs the computer still doesn't read the disc then write or call microsoft.Or ask them online about this.

Booting Problem

Hi there.

You will need to open your BIOS settings, and change your boot sequence/priority so that it includes PCI cards. Save and exit, and see if it then boots.

If you need anymore help, or need me to clarify anything, I'll be happy to help.

Motherboard

Most of the new systems and motherboards support SATA connectors onboard. In your case there is none as you have found. So the best option is always upgrading to a new motherboard in case you need to add more SATA drives. You can also try to find SATA add-on cards, may a little costly types. These cards use PCI interface and very easy to install but hard to find one. I hpoe you could find one from a hardware store near you. If your motherboard has ordinary PCI slots then the SATA adpter will be less costly, otherwise (if it features a PCI-X slot) it will be costly. Following is a simple description on what the market has to offer: SATA II - 150 4Ports PCI-X with NCQ, Raid 0+1, Raid 0 and Raid 1 ! You can upgrade your desktop computer to have four Channels Serial ATA Generation 1 and Generation 2 transfer rate of 1.5 Gbps. The board provides a 64bit, 133 MHz PCI interface on the host side and four, fully compliant Serial ATA ports on the device side to access Serial ATA storage devices such as hard disk drive, ZIP drive, CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM. Note: Fault tolerance: RAID 0 (Striping), RAID 1 (Mirroring), RAID 0+1 (mirrored-stripping) and RAID 1+S (Mirrored-Sparing) improve the data performance and provide the data redundancy and rebuilding.
