Polaroid 37'' won't turn on or off

When powered on with the remote, the tv power button would light up, but no picture would appear on the screen. When this happened, the only way to turn the tv off was to unplug it (the remote couldn't turn it off, nor could you turn it off by pressing the power button on the tv itself). By unplugging the tv and then plugging it back in, we could get it to turn on and this worked for a few days, but now this isn't working either. We searched the web and found that this seems to be a very common problem with Polaroid. Some folks seem to have found a solution and were able to make repairs successfully themselves, but we need specifics about what part(s) to replace, how to do the replacement, and where the parts can be purchased. Thank you.

37'' LG lcd tv, no power

I just want to clear things here.
The stand by light will remain on whenever the tv set is turned on by a button on the side of the tv.

Then use your remote to turn on the tv, but wait as it can take 10secs before you get a picture.

Hi stevieb44, I am happy to help. Turn your TV on.
  1. Press and hold the TV button
  2. While holding the TV button press and hold the Power(on/off) button, the light will go out and then come back on.
  3. Release both buttons, the light should remain on.
  4. Point the remote at the TV.
  5. Press the power button repeatedly until TV turns off, wait about 5 seconds between pushes.
  6. When TV turns off press the Stop button at bottom of remote, that will lock in the code.
Let me know if this helps and please rate this solution. Lone99star
