Hi, In order to watch either DVD or VHS on your TV ,you need to make the following connections ..
You need to connect "DVD Player / VCR Combo" to" TV " as (Audio/video output
of DVD Player / VCR Combo -TO- Audio/Video input of TV) ..
use either "RCA analog (red/white +yellow ) " or "SCART "or
"Optic " cable.(any standard optical cable )...if exist ,optic is the best way to
connect it..Remember your DVD Player / VCR Combo 's "OUT" goes into" IN "of the TV ..
pls also
remember, wherever you connect your DVD Player / VCR Combo on your TV ,you should switch
the source selector accordingly to correspond to the connection on the
back...
Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know. Take care and please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up for me to continue for Helping out the Community :)
The red and white are the audio, and the yellow is the video, check the back of the tv to make sure the yellow jack states input, if yes make sure the tv is set to aux/or video.
Hi, VCR video signal wont come out from Component Video Out of combo unit, it is low resolution signal so you need to hook yellow-red-white video cable in tv for VCR output. Make sure to select VCR as source in combo while playback of VHS tape and select DVD as source when playing dvd disc in combo. Hope these info will help you. Let me know if you have additional question. Thanks.
On these combo units, the VCR will not play using component cables but the dvd's will play just fine.
What you need to do is run a pair of composite (Yellow, red and white) cables and use that for VCR and component (Green, blue, red, white and red) for the dvd player.
Make sure you switch the tv to the corresponding input.
Do you have a newer TV or a older one lets start with a newer models does your tv have 3 or more jacks on the back or front you should see a RED, YELLOW and WHITE if you have a HDTV you should see more. (LETS HOOK UP) Did your DVD/VCR come with a cables if not you will need to buy at least 2 they are called RCA cables Lets start with the dvd/vcr combo on the back you should see a (LINE OUT) this is where playback or your picture and sound come out. On the back of the TV you should see a (LINE IN) this is where you plug it in to. RED goes to RED, WHITE goes to WHITE and YELLOW goes to YELLOW. To Record you will need to hook up the line in on your combo and the line out to your tv. ( IF YOU HAVE AN OLDER T.V WITH NONE OF THOSE JACKS ) you will need to buy a RF- MODULATOR the are cheap it is a box that let you hook a cable wire to a little box and the RCA jacks to you combo and you will turn your tv to channel 3 or 4
how do you have the combo connection and dish network hooked to the tv ? if you have an s-video , yellow RCA jack video or component video hooked to the same input then it will act this way, because two inputs cannot be on the same video input # on the tv.
is this what is happening? or how are you connecting it?
I would just hook up the dvd/vhs player with the red, white, yellow rca cables that should of come with your unit and just go to the input on the tv to watch your dvd/vhs player. This will give you a better picture and sound while allowing you not to have to watch dvd/vhs on a channel which helps make the dvd/vhs player independent. Also if possible I would hook the converter box up with the red, white, yellow rca cables to the tv as well if your tv has more than one set of red, white, yellow plugs since it is a better connection that coax and you probably watch more tv than vhs/dvd anyway. So bottom line try to hook up both boxes red, white, yellow and watch each box on different inputs instead of like channel 3 or 4. Also to record of converter box you can run coax from converter box to dvd/vhs combo and make sure your dvd/vhs player is on tuner input or channel 3.
ok so what you need to do is put the cable from your cable provider/ antenna (or what ever you use)to the combo players CABLE IN connection.. then color match of the red yellow and white cables from the OUT on the combo to the IN on the TV your tv has to be set on AUX sometimes called L1 or L2 depending on your tv and which set of red yellow and white holes on the tv you use... your combo will also probably need to be turned on.. try that should work!
RCA plugs (the yellow, red, and white outlets you speak of) consist of a video plug (yellow) and stereo plugs for audio (red and white). Just match the colors from the DVD RCA colors to the RCA hook-ups on the TV (ex. Yellow the Yellow, White to White).
You don't need to worry about the red one, it just makes the DVD player play stereo audio. Instead, you'll have mono, which is fine, and most modern players can detect mono and switch it for you so don't worry about changing settings and what not (unless you're missing sound on one side.)
We also don't have a remote. We hooked a DVD/VCR combo to the Samsung combo by attaching the cable from the cable line to the DVD player and an additional cable from DVD to TV and it used to work but after we lost the control, the DVD can only be listened to but not seen. The VHS from the DVD player works perfectly though.
When we had the remote (before connecting the other combo) we used line-in to see a DVD or VHS using the yellow red and white cables from the Samsung to the other player.
