Your self propel wire could be broken. Lean the vacuum back like you were using it. If you stand in front of the vacuum look down and to your left. When you move the selp propel button you should see a wire move. If not then it's broken.

The belt that drives the self propelled feature may seem fine but it can still be stretched and therefore won't propel the vacuum. You can get this belt here:

Where is belt located on Hoover wind tunnel vacum. And how to replace it. My brushes are not spinning.

Its usually located underneath the body of the unit, turn it upside down and you should see the beater brush. You need to open the bottom cover to get at the brush and drive belt.

Hoover self propelled upright model u6323 930

In order to have suction you need air flow.Essentialy,a vacuum cleaner is trying to create a vacuum the whole time it's on.Just because the beater bar turns doesn't have anything to do with the suction. That is created inside the canister. You have an obstruction in the hose anywhere between the motor and the power brush.

Why won't hoover wind tunnel self-propel?

Hi there! The self-propelled feature is controlled by a belt. Check the belts on your Hoover Windtunnel by following these quick steps.

1. Recline the handle. Lay the cleaner fat and flip it over to expose nozzle base.
2. Remove the screws attaching the nozzle.
3. Check that the belts are not broken, stretched or damaged.

Replace the belts if they are damaged. Hope this helps!

Hoover self-propelled wind tunnel doesn't self propel going backwards.

Your self propel cable sounds like you need to have an adjustment. reccomend a service shop repair.

Self Propel wheels not enough power to move machine over carpet.

Sounds like the transmission might need an overhaul. Take it to a local vacuum repair shop and have them look at the transmission.

Hoover wind tunnel u5755-900. smoke, smell. self-propel

Can you verify the model number? However, based on your posted description, it sounds like the flat belt is either broken or fell off. to access the belts turn it over and remove the bottom plate (4 screws). the Flat belt will connect to the motor shaft in the back and the large black pulley.

Self Propelled does not work

if you look below the headlamp of your vac you will find a cable that attach's to a piece called the actuator arm. either this piece is likely broke or the cable itself. always work the power drive smoothly or things will break. also could be that the smooth belt is stretched and will cause the same problem. belts should be replaced every 4 months. good news is all parts above should be under $5. dont let anyone tell you that you need a power drive assy, that usually isnt the case. good luck!!!

Hoover wind tunnel vac

If the belt is getting hot, then it is slipping instead of turning the brush roll. Check thge brush roll, make sure the ends are turning freely. Is the motor running ok? If it is then either the brush roll is bad, need a new belt, or something is catching the belt, not letting it move.
