"Fan lock" My JVC HD-56FN97 tv is only 1 year old. 2 months ago the tv would turn on for about 1-2 minutes (picture and sound work) and then just shut down. The blue power light stays on and then the orange/pink light blinks at 1-2 second intervals - no picture or sound. The fan seems to shut down. The bulb is fine. In reading the service manual it indicates 'fan lock' but doesn't say what parts or how to fix. I just moved to Idaho a few months ago and guess what GE Services ext. contract can't get anyone out here to even diagnose the problem. HELP! Thanks and Happy Holidays! Pat

Can you narrow down 'cognitive' problem. There are three fans in the tv. Could it need a fan/motor replacement? Could it be a circuit board? If so is there one that deals with the fans? What is the process that a service center goes through for diagnostics. Can it be done at my home through a service tech? Otherwise I have to load up a 56" TV and take it there myself. That will be difficult. Please offer more options. Thanks!

I would like to be answered by your top rated television expert. Smily wasn't able to satisfy my problem.

    Thanks.

    Smilemaker,
Your last comment doesn't make sense to me. Please advise.
    Thanks.

Hi. I would like a answer from an expert in the television arena who is familiar with JVC.

    Thanks

  • whattagal Dec 23, 2007

And just a bit more information. The service manual refers to it as the ATSC tuner fan lock issue.

    Thanks.

  • whattagal Dec 23, 2007

    Smilemaker,
I wasn't implying you weren't qualified but I did notice there were some 'experts' in the television area who might just know more about my issue. And by the way, I'm not a sir. According to the service manual the issue seems to be either with the ATSC tuner power board or the ATSC tuner cooling fan. I'm trying to get some input so I may speak intelligently IF I can find someone to repair my tv. Granted, my empirical approach to this is all I have to offer but I think there is still more specific information to be offered before I get a herina lifting the tv into my SUV.
Thanks for your attempts at solving my issue.

JVC HD-56FN97 when turned on blue light is solid, red ligt blinks a few times and goes out. My picture is very dark despite adjustments I make in the menu, any help or feed back apreciated.

The set does use a lamp for a light source and average life is 2 years or 2000 hours---many lamps before they actually fail get to be darker.
