is your cd a copy or original.

Hi, Try going into BIOS and change the boot order of the pc to your cd/dvd rom drive. Disable everything else ( hard drive, floppy..etc) and disable allow for other boot devices. Your disc should boot and you can reformat and install xp. Hank

Clean install windows

Insert your Windows CD, power down the computer, restart it, enter your boot menu (not sure what F key it is on this model and couldn't find the info), boot from CD and follow instructions for reformatting and reinstalling Windows. Make sure you back up all you data first.

How to reformat back to windows vista ?

You need a windows Vista disc. Insert the disc and follow the prompts. I would format the hard drive instead of upgrading do a new install. The best way would be to go into your bios and make sure the boot device order has the cd-rom booting before the hard drive. Then put the disc in and start the computer, when it says press any key to boot from cd hit any key and let it load and then follow the prompts to install.

boot your computer into the bios and check to see if the drive shows there , if it does then dissconected the drive ( with power off ) and reboot the computer , let it fully boot , then turn off and reconnect the drive and windows should pick it up

Missing controllers on Lavie light

For me this is not a BIG trouble. Usually If you have reformat your computer all function of the motherboard were lost. So, you need to install also the motherboard driver. Get the CD installer of your motherboard load it to the CD room drive follow the instruction given there.

Good luck!
