I have a philips 27". model # 27PT543S37A. When I turn the power on, i Hear a clicking in the back repeatedly then it turns off. It sounds like your tube Shadow Mask may have got magnetised and need to be degaussed.
Turn off your TV at the mains and unplug it for at least two to three hours. Longer the better. After that time power up your TV it should degauss the tube at power up.
Worth a try before you give up on it. Or else get your picture tube replaced. It may be more economical than purchasing a new television. Also try to have the picture tube of an old color T.V as modern picture tubes lacks quality when compared to older ones. But check those tubes thoroughly before buying it.
hello, the convergence ic's have gone bad in your tv . and sometimes they fail because of a 50 mfd @ 50v capacitor by each ic goes bad. if you have the skill at soldiering and desoldiering you may try repairing it yourself otherwise leave it to a qualified repairman. thanks .....techman...580-243-8025
You need to put the TV on Video Mode. Press the TV/Video button on your remote or the Input button. Toggle between the selections and it should detect the PS2.
Yes, Mitsubishi did make a DLP that did not use a color wheel, but I am not sure if they still make it. It would be in the Diamond series and it uses 3 image units. I believe this was a professional set and was very expensive. You may have to ask around at you local electronics store to see if Mits still make this set.

When you turn on the tv, put your ear to the lower back part of the tv near the middle. Listen for the start up of the color wheel (a low high pitch sound only at the start up of the motor). If this is good you will here a ticking sound only if the lamp dose not light.
Now with all this info. If the lamp lights (as seen from the back of the set) and goes out after a few seconds and you did not here the color wheel spin up, the color wheel is bad.
If you here the color wheel spin up and no ticking sound, the Ballast is bad.

I too have the same problem. We've had the ilo27 for almost 2 years and
it suddenly decided to not turn on anymore. Red light-itus.
I did find a little trick if you are not so mechanical like me and don't want to risk opening the back. I know this isn't a cure, but you CAN get around this by simply pulling the plug from the wall and plugging it back in. It comes on with remote or manually every time!!! A little inconvenient, but a way around it temporarily!
