My KLH DA1302 50CD changer will not open dispite being on. I can hear the motor operating, but the drawer doesn't open. This seemed to happen a couple of years ago, and I opened the gizmo up and "unstuck" the CD tray. That seemed to "fix the problem for a while, but I tried to use the player to listen to several new CDs after 5 or 6 months of nonuse and experienced the problem. If the drive belt is the root cause (e.g., worn out/slipping, too old/cracked and brittle, etc.), where can I but a suitable, more durable replacement belt for this player? I have the same problem with an under the counter GE clock/radio/CD player.

It sounds like the CD is not in the correct location. Tap it gently in several directions, try this several times it may solve the problem. I think you will have to open it up and align the tray assembly and remove the offending CD.
Something must be jammed so a trip to a Technician will resolve that. This is one of the reason I never buy changers of any kind because over the years I have had to fix so many cartridge, platter and other changers that are all designed poorly enough to make the 90 day period but not last too much longer. The Sony ES models are the best but they were big money back then- I have a broken one in my shop now.
Try opening up the top and cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that does not resolve the problem, look at the back side of the optics and there should be a marking like KSS-xxx. This is the generic part designation. Any electronics supplier that supports Sony should have these.
