Internal battery has come loose and requires refitting and or replacement. There are no service agents in my area and I'll have to do the job myself. Are there any instructions/manuals available for this product/model as I can't locate any info. online? The product is a Boss DR-5 Dr. Rhythm Drum Machine similar to the Roland DR-3.

Hi J, Clean the whole area around the drain plug and oil pan. Drain the fluid from the drain plug at the lowest point of the gearbox oil pan. When drained into the required receptacle, remove all bolts around the oil pan and drop it. The oil filter is located inside and held in place by fixing bolts. Remove those and replace the filter. This job requires the utmost cleanliness, and no contamination should be allowed to get inside the gearbox. Refit oil pan using a new gasket and refill gearbox to required level. Always check the gearbox level with the engine running, the selector in neutral and the park brake fully engaged. Regards John

If your engine is the VQ35, then your water pump is located inside the engine cover.

Replacing the water pump is not a straight forward job, as it requires the removal of many external components (i.e. air ducts, grills, covers, belts, reservoirs etc) and internal components such as idler pulley, cranshaft pulley, tensioner etc. The coolant will need to be drained also.

CAUTION: do not spill coolant on the drive belts.

As per diagram, with engine cover removed the water pump (item # 1) can be found after removing the water pump cover (item # 5).



Unless you have access to the Factory Service Manual, I strongly advise you entrust this job to an Nissan agent who has experience in replacing a water pump on this model.

Note: allowing a non-experienced mechanic to perform this work, could result in unnecessary labor time and more cost to you, so you should take this into consideration when weighing up the costs.

Hi, your problem with this unit, is to do with the internal power supply, it has developed a fault, this fault, causes the batteries to prematurely discharge, when left in the camera.
However I would doubt that one would be able to obtain the necessary replacement components to repair this unit DIY. In any event, you would require a service manual to be able to obtain the parts numbers for the replacement components.
Honestly your best bet, to obtain the quickest and cheapest repair, would indeed be to take the get a "Quote" for repair, from, an, Approved Service Center. Now, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their "Local" or a, "Head Office" Olympus, in your case. Ask them, for a referral to an authorised servicing center, where you ask for a "Quote". Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement.
The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have original parts on hand..

More than likely the internal fuse will have blown.
Steps: Remove a side of the housing (about seven screws) (even one under the knob decal) locate the circuit board in upper front area. locate fuse on circuit board behind water seal remove and replace fuse and reseal refit circuit board refit housing and decal cross your fingers, say a prayer, ready for testing now your there...good luck !

This may be a real Flat Battery, what you could try is a replacement battery, if this doesn't fix it, then it must have developed an internal fault, and should be returned to the service agent for a quote for a repair.

There is probably not much you can do but I guess you could try getting a newer battery.

It's a 'Factory Job.' Take it to a Nikon-authorized service rep.

They tend to break... and the cure is to replace the arm. This involves removing the transport and then splitting it, replacing the load lever, and then refitting transport. Be careful not to break the transport limit switch mounted to the chassis when removing and refitting the transport. Not an easy job for the "non handyman".
