Hi,sounds like It could be the DMD board. This is how the DMD board works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically when that Dmd chips starts to fail that's what you'll get color discoloration vertical lines, white spots. You will need to replace the dmd only you can find it on ebay, samsung,or shopjimmy.com God bless you!

I have red bars of different widths running horizontally across the screen.

Hi You have a ground loop problem. Rolling shaded bars are the classic sign of a ground loop. Your TV & AV gear are likely not on the same
ground level as the input cable line. The cable line is likely floating
to a different ground. But this is not hard to fix.

TV HAS GREEN HORZONITAL STRIPES

Check if this happens in analog inputs ( connect a DVD player or any other component uing RCA cables white, yellow, red ) then check if the bars are showing on digital unputs ( connect using HDMI cable )

if it is just an analog problem - replace analog board
if it is just a digital problem - replace digital board
if it is a problem with both -replace DMD board

Samsung HLR5067W goes from a normal picture to snowy green color

Greetings!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it is not something that has a quick fix. Without inspecting it myself it is impossible to say, but the last three of these that I have seen have been bad digital boards and can be a real bear to change, even when you have experience.

I would get slightly different video symptoms when I would switch between the coaxial input to the component input to the HDMI input. But in all cases my on screen display and menu were anomally free. Hope this was helpful, even though I don't think it is something you should attack yourself.

Good luck!

Picture from analog tv signal is not sharp

I have this same machine, you did'nt mention what input you are using (composite, S-Video, component or HDMI) or what type of display you have (CRT, LCD, Plasma etc.).
If your T.V. has a HDMI input I recommend using that, if not and it's of fairly recent vintage use the component inputs (not to be confused with composite video inputs, or yellow RCA-type input).or at the very least use the S-Video input.
In the setup menu (on screen) try setting the "TV Screen" option to the 480p setting and if you are using the HDMI input try setting that to the highest resolution your T.V. has or set it to "Auto"
Finally in the on screen video menu select the "Video" setting and set the "Still Mode" option to automatic, and the "Output Level" to lighter or darker whatever your preference is.
Remember...Always use HDMI or component video inputs on your television (if it has those inputs)!
Hope this helps!

Samsung HL 61A750A1F

The Samsung Television has 3 HDMI inputs, You would connect an HDMI cable from the Cable box to your television and go into a menu on the television to select the appropriate HDMI input.

New cable boxes should have the HDMI connection.

Most Flat screen televisions I've seen have an input button on the television itself. Pushing it should allow you to switch between inputs.

Green Plaid then Vertical Lines, Failure of hard controls, Analog Board?

You are absolutely correct, When anyone complains of vertical lines or bars, the next step is to see if it happens on only digital inputs ( digital board ) , only analog inputs ( analog board ) , or both ( DMD board ) .

Analog board can be purchased at www.partstore.com ,
