Drum shakes terrible during high speed spin
I have a 7 year old duet washer. It started to shake during the spin cycle. It is level and the shocks and springs holding the drum are working. When the washer gets to the spin cycle, it is apparent that the drum is off center.
I tore the machine apart and found that there is a bracket at the back of the drum. This bracket sits in water so it was covered in slime. I found several large cracks in the bracket. Once these cracks occur, there is now way the drum can spin correctly. The bracket is welded to the back of the drum, so it has to be completely replaced.
What a poor design. I would guess that many, many other people will be seeing the same problem within a couple years. I was lucky in that I did not pay for a repairman to try to fix it.
This is a normal condition, dictated by physics. MAchine needs to be on a cement floor, ideally, otherwise, these vibrations are transmitted to the house structure...
