Yes as llong as you have a mantel inbetween tv and fire as a heat shield and use the fan if has heater has fan some jetmaster open fires don't have fans would be better if did, but if doesn't the mantel will take the heat away from tv as natural ventilation the heat will want to rise but the mantel is in the way so tv will be safe i have seen this in operation and even after a day of running checked tv and not hot at all behind tv so if considering this yourself the mantel is the best idea and you can still do other alterations to make the heat stop rising directly up onto tv. A heater with a fan is a really good idea with the mantel it push's heat to otherside of room keeping it alot cooler directly above heater! as is said i've tested and is ok
DO NOT - UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES subject a LCD or plasma Tv to any more heat than is absolutely necessary. One of the largest problems in either of these two units is dissapating heat. Adding to the problem would be like using gasoline to put out a fire...
