I have a Mitsubishi model ws-55809.When turning on the power button it clicks a couple of seconds and turns off.It was produced in January of 2002.Any ideas on how I can fix this problem? If so ,where to get parts needed.
Two possible problems:convergence IC(2pc),or hi voltage output:transistor,flyback,capacitors.
Most likely your problem is caused by a fault on the Vertical Stablization board on the Red CRT. Remove the speaker grill, then remove the screws that hold the mounting board that contain the speakers. Look inside the TV to the left. You should see the Red CRT. On the side of the yoke towards the bottom of the Red CRT, you should see a gray or dark plastic housing. You should see wires with a with white plug on the end, that plugs into a board on the side of the Red CRT. That's the Vertical Stablizer board. Take a piece of wood and lightly move the wires over to one side while turning the power button on. Your TV will most likely power up.
This is the #1 cause of most of the Flashing Green Light Of Death Problems you see with so many of the Mitsubishi Rear Projection TV's made since about 2000. The reason for it is because Mitsubishi runs the power feed into that board, then daisy chains it over to the Center CRT, which then feeds to the CRT on the right. It's causing the Red CRT's Vertical Stablization board to be overloaded on the power feed circuit, thereby causing the contact on the little PC board to burn. If you are good at soldering, you can mostly likely get behind the connector where the plug goes, and resolder the terminals, making sure you first unplug the tv, and let is sit for at least a half hour before working on it. Wouldn't want you to get electrocuted and have a bad case of the frizzies.
Good Luck and hose this helps.
