TR SR706 purchased 6 months ago. Unit powers on to

TR SR706 purchssed 6 months ago. Unit powers on to the standby light and when you try to move to power mode, the panel displays for a few seconds and then reverts to standby (with the red light flashing). THis happended yesterday after a large spark flew out of the front left side of the unit (facing the unit). ANy help is appreciated. PS I am in San FRancisco Calif.- is Denver CO really the closest auth. service center ?

Hello Fixya customer,

Thank you for your question.

The best way to fully isolate the fault is to disconnect all the speaker wires, and verify that there are no strands of wire shorting between the speaker terminals on the rear of the unit.

Turn the volume all the way down, full CCW, and if it goes into shut down with the STBY light blinking then there is a fault in one of the amplifier's.

System shuts off and turns to red light standby
Hello. You may want to double check your connections and cables. The only time I've ever heard a clicking before a system shut it's self down was when a kid had stuck the battery cover from a TV remote into the disc drive.
Also, if the PS3 keeps acting like that, Sony will repair/replace the unit for free including shipping since it's under a year old. Thanks and good luck!

Flashing Standby Light (6 times every 2 second interval)
A 6 flash error indicates a problem with the backlight. Your set is less than a year old and still in warranty, so you should contact Sony and arrange for a service call to get it repaired.

No screen display - VIzio 50" Flat screen TV
If you purchased the TV 6 months ago, still under manufacturers warranty. They normally give customers 1 year warranty coverage.
It looks like the main board will have to be replace on this TV or fix to the component level.
