"It's referred to as 'flashlighting'. It's a common problem in LCD/led as the driving factor is lighting pushed through pixels to create the picture. What you are seeing is a spot where the lighting is passing through unscathed or overpowering around the edges since this is an edge lit tv.

Some TVs are worse than others even if they are the same model, size and even batch.

This can be caused by many reasons... You have 2 options, return and/or exchange it at your local store if still in that window. Or you can call the tv manufacturer to see if it is out of their allowable tolerance levels.

Remember some flashlighting is still within their specs so even though you may not be happy with it the manufacturer may not fix it.

Many people find some relief by turning brightness down, contrast down and some TVs allow you to adjust back light levels. If this one does then make sure it is not on high.

For more info on this I would go to hidefjunkies.com as it has tons of great info."...Also,"take it off Dynamic mode is the first step. Then put it on something like Standard or Movie. This will not fix it permanently, but will give you a better experience." (I hope this answers your question...if it was ME,I would take th darn thing back,if still within warranty period.)

SOURCE: Vizio P4 Plasma green blotches

OK Service tech came out last night (7pm) and repalces the main board and updated firmware to the latest. he said the red/green snow is a fairly common problem with the early units (mine was a july 2006 build). Picture is fine now but we will see how long the fix lasts. Main board was definitely the issue, firmware upgrade was prob just because they could.
Keep in mind this unit was OUT of warranty. I find it refreshing that Vizio took responsibility and set up a service ticket for a 16 month old unit. Not that they shouldn't last a lot longer but they could have just said tough luck.

SOURCE: Vizio LCD Green Pixels

Our Vizio started doing the same thing after only three weeks, except it was also showing green pixel when we watched DVDs.  After checking this site and others and trying all the "tweaking" advised, I finally called Vizio's customer support.  They were extremely polite and tried to help over the phone, but had to send someone to the house to make the repair (anything 40 inches or larger earns a house call). The tech arrived on time and was extremely professional and pleasant -- he had to replace the daughter board and LVDS cables.  So far, so good.

It sounds your panel is going bad. If you call deferent shop you might find someone that has refurbish panels, or half price panels, call around. I would try that first. Then only if I have too, then buy ba new TV.

SOURCE: Vizio VW37L no power

Check for bad capacitors in power supply, check voltages coming out of the power supply, if voltages are good, bad main board.. Vizio's are notorious for bad main boards.

My Vizio tv will not turn on. The white light in the lower left corner lights but no illuminated screen appears.

Power cycling can solve a lot of odd problems with Vizio TVs. First disconnect the TV's power cord from the power outlet and leave it unplugged. Then press and hold the power button on the TV for 10 seconds. After you have held the button for 10 seconds, let go then try to power the TV on.

Can i replace the screen on my vizio vw37l

yes you can, but in most cases cost to replace the panel could cost as much as a new set. If you decide to replace the panel, you will need to get your LCD panel model # before ordering a replacement. You will have to open your set. There should be a white sticker on the back of your panel stating the model #.

I have a vizio vw37L and after about a min or so the picture goes out but it still has sound

Does the screen go black or does the screen turn off? To determine this, cup your hands place them against the screen with your face in your hands. This effectively blocks all other light out, if the screen appears to be lit even though it is black, the screen is still on.
If the screen in on but black, 1. Check the cables that are attached. If there are separate cables for the video and audio, make sure the video is properly inserted. 2. There is an internal problem with wiring. Check your warranty and try and return it or get it repaired.
If the screen is off, 1. The lamp is burned out inside the tv. This is usually a free fix if the tv is under 2 years old. Contact the establishment where you purchased it or the manufacturer for details.
