Stripped plastic coupler on output shaft of Dremel model 277

I have a dremel chain saver model 277 for sharpening my chainsaw. Inside of the unit it has a flexible plastic tube coupler (about 5/8 inch long) that transmits the power from the rotor to the output shaft. I need to replace this coupler due to it being stripped where it fits over the splines of the two shafts. Any ideas on where to get the part?

I'm guessing, but I think that the Sears tool uses the same flexible coupling. If you go to www.searspartsdirect.com and put in the model 572610031, you can look at the diagram and decide for yourself. I think the part costs $2.57. If it's the right one, I'd order two or three for the future.
Hope this helps.

I have the same issue with my model 277 Chain Saver. Sure enough I went to Sears web site and could see the needed part. I was going to order three couplings at 2 or 3 dollars each and the shipping was nearly 8 dollars. Now, I would have 17 or 18 dollars in a ten year old tool that I paid thirty dollars for. Got to be a better way! I just bought one foot of vinyl tubing (3/8 OD x 1/4 ID) and forced each end of a 7/8 inch piece over each end of the spline. works great and will take less time to fix that I spent shearching the web for the right part. Good luck to all.

Go to Dremel.com and they can help with the replacement. you might have to call their toll free number listed there, but I tried a couple other sites I use and no luck.

Have Dremel MOD 395 motor runs and speed control works bot shaft won't turn--worth fixing ??? and how

Hi Larry, The tool that you require parts for was discontinued many years ago. Limited parts are available from Dremel. Inside the tool is a flex coupling and spline driver. The flex coupling is # 2615294309 and the price is about $ 1.25. This is the hollow plastic sleeve about 1" long with grooves on the inside, that goes between the motor shaft and the output shaft. The spline driver is # 2615294308 for about $ 1.00. Spline driver sits on the direct end of the motor shaft. The flex coupling sits over the spline driver. Spline driver is about 1/4", hard plastic with grooves on the outside. Total shipping for orders under $ 5.00 is $ 2.50. Orders over $5.00 is $ 4.00. There could be a tax charge depending on which state you live in. Here is how to order: Call Dremel Customer Service at 1-800-437-3635 , Monday-Friday from 7 am to 6 pm central time. Tool turn on and seems to run, but working end does not turn. I took it apart anf the plastic bushing on the metal shaft is stripped. It also sems like the metal shaft may be worn. Can I buy replacement...

Hi Joe, Joe here. I have a dremel tool now for almost 25 years. Same one. I had this happen to me. You should be able to get the parts at any hardware store that has the big dremel accessories cabinet. You can also get the parts from dremel's customer service. Great tool, next to my leatherman wave. http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Tools/Pages/RetiredProducts.aspx

What size file do i use for a Ryobi chainsaw model PCN4545 to sharpen the chain

The standard chain file should fit it. It is about 3/16 dia. I found the dremel to work 10 times better, they have a little stone bit just for chains. Eventually, you have to take it in for sharpening, it will set all the teeth the same.

Motor works but no drive to shaft.

My 15 year old Dremel 395 had the same problem so I took it apart. There is a plastic spline between the motor and the output shaft to the chuck . My plastic spline was split and had many of its teeth sheared off. The shaft lock acts on the output shaft side of this spline, so it was ok. Otherwise everything looked great; bearings ran free & had little play free, brushes ok. To be fair, my Dremel had seen hard use & doesn't owe me anything. No luck so far finding replacement spline parts, which if available should be easy to install. To take apart your tool, just google "Dremel Disassembly". GOOD LUCK!

I have a Dremel Single Speed Model 275 that belonged to my Dad. It suddenly won't turn on the end even though the motor is running at full speed. When I take my fingers and twist the end, it starts to turn...

The Dremel 275 (and other series) have a plastic coupler and spline that connect the motor shaft to the collet shaft (where the tools attach). The plastic fatigues and disintegrates, causing the collet shaft to stop, even if the motor is still running. The fix is about $5.00 --- two parts from Dremel. The 275 case is a **** shell that opens with the removal of six T-10 Torx screws.
