I have a dremel chain saver model 277 for sharpening my chainsaw. Inside of the unit it has a flexible plastic tube coupler (about 5/8 inch long) that transmits the power from the rotor to the output shaft. I need to replace this coupler due to it being stripped where it fits over the splines of the two shafts. Any ideas on where to get the part?
I'm guessing, but I think that the Sears tool uses the same flexible coupling. If you go to www.searspartsdirect.com and put in the model 572610031, you can look at the diagram and decide for yourself. I think the part costs $2.57. If it's the right one, I'd order two or three for the future.
Hope this helps.
I have the same issue with my model 277 Chain Saver. Sure enough I went to Sears web site and could see the needed part. I was going to order three couplings at 2 or 3 dollars each and the shipping was nearly 8 dollars. Now, I would have 17 or 18 dollars in a ten year old tool that I paid thirty dollars for. Got to be a better way! I just bought one foot of vinyl tubing (3/8 OD x 1/4 ID) and forced each end of a 7/8 inch piece over each end of the spline. works great and will take less time to fix that I spent shearching the web for the right part. Good luck to all.

Go to Dremel.com and they can help with the replacement. you might have to call their toll free number listed there, but I tried a couple other sites I use and no luck.
