Yellow hue I recently had a convergence issue with green shadows. All three stk chips were replaced, however, there seems to be a color issue now. The picture seems to have a yellow hue and it does not seem to have a good color picture anymore. any info would be apprechiated. I had the repair done by a tv repair man.

Repairman needed. If it was like this when he "fixed" the convergence issue, the job was obviously not completed.

The model listed uses two stk 392-110 convergence chips---colors seem skewed or even 3 d like---I have start to finish instructions for this repair in this model--parts cost should be under 30 dollars total.

Your Convergence ICs are likely failing. It is very common on rear projections. The solution is to replace the STK chips, check fuses and the resistors next to the STK chips. Replace as necessary and re-align via the service menu. It is about a $300 repair at a tv service center. You will need the service manual if you decide to do this yourself.

Try This:
When you notice the symptons Use this simple test to verify.
Go to the users menu on the tv.
Look for the converge option probably under setup or video setting. Converge is short for convergence to align the red and blue colors to the green color.

If you cannot move the red either horizontal or vertical, then the STK chip has failed for red section.
If you cannot move the blue either horizontal or vertical, then the STK chip has failed for the blue section.

If you can move both in each direction then the problem is something else.


Note if one STK chip fails, you replace both regardless. They will be right next to each other.

STK ICs that were replaced maybe the reason convergence is not lining up or you may have some open low ohm resistors that need to be replaced ,near convergence ICs. STK392-570.

The convergence is bad replace the STK chips on the convergence PCB.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.



You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

If Convergence on setup dosen't work, And you think its not STK Convergence chips!, Then "Yes" It more then likely will have a few open Resistors!... (Near STK chips)

Do not adjust any knobs as instucted in the previous thread if you TV have a convergence problem. Doing so will only make things worse. The blog does however show you how to fix other common problems with these sets.
