Cannot locate an input selector to change from cable to a recorder

I am installing the SONY RDR-VX555 recorder and the first step in the setup manual is to switch the input selector on the TV so that the signal from the recorder appears on the TV. I am stuck. I cannot locate the blue screen on the TV. Any thoughts?

You need the original remote controller to be able to switch input modes.Universal ones usually don't work. If you don't have the original remote and can't find it ever or if it is too expensive you can buy an rf modulator ( very cheap) and connect your dvd player, game console etc) to the modulator then connect the modulator to your antenna with a coax cable. This worked for me. It placed the connection to channel 4 and other cable channels are still working,

You can buy the RF Modulator from: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180299245670

Best way to connect sony Bravia TV, RDR-HXD890 recorder and Sky Q box, please??

Connecting your old RDR-HXD890 player/recorder to your Sky Q box and TV can be done by using the appropriate cables and connections. Here is an example of how you can connect the devices:
  1. Connect the HDMI output of the Sky Q box to the HDMI input of the RDR-HXD890 using an HDMI cable. This will send the video and audio signals from the Sky Q box to the RDR-HXD890.
  2. Connect the HDMI output of the RDR-HXD890 to the HDMI input of the TV using an HDMI cable. This will send the video and audio signals from the RDR-HXD890 to the TV.
  3. Connect the aerial cable to the aerial input of the RDR-HXD890
  4. Connect the RDR-HXD890 to the power outlet
  5. Turn on all the devices and set the TV to the HDMI input where the RDR-HXD890 is connected.
By connecting your devices in this manner, you will be able to watch and record TV shows and movies from your Sky Q box through the RDR-HXD890 and display them on your TV.

WILL THE RMT V501A REMOTE WORK WITH SONY RDR VX55

Download the user manual for Sony RMT-V501A remote control, from nt. It will have all details, including setup codes. If there is setup code ofr your RDR VX555, you can synchronise the remote with your device. If there is no setup codes, it can't.

I have a dead Sony RDR VX555 DVD/VCR Combo. I suspect that the 1.6V fuse, located next to where the power cord attaches to the main circuit board,is blown. I have had no success obtaining a replacement...

Radio Shack stores that have the parts bins have this fuse in stock (catalog # 270-1051). If your local store does not carry electronic parts they are available from their online store.

Cannot get picture/menu on screen!

Hi,

The Sony recorder is connected to the TV via the RCA cables (for both audio and video)? How many inputs does your TV have? One cable input and one RCA line in (making a total of two? Did you eliminate the possibility that the recorder might be defective by trying it on another TV?
