Have you actually chosen any of these options? Safe mode is the best-then scan it for viruses. Running in Safe mode you can access internet-it gives you choices. It only runs minimum programs but generally allows you to fix things. Often disabling or removing unecessary programmes from the start menu at this point solves the problem.

My go clever quantum 1010N does not get past the boot up loading screen. you turn the power on it goes to a white screen that says loading and goes no further, why?

Booting into safe mode usually indicates a problem with the machine. When powering it on, keep punching F8 for the "Safe Mode" boot option window and try choosing "Last good Configuration". You might try Restoring it back to before this started. Click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools and then System Restore.

Hello, I have a compaq evo n110, and it was working ok then froze and restarted, started working again then did it again. now it comes up saying windows was not shut down properly and asks the usual...

There are many different things that could cause the issue you describe.

About how old is this computer? If it's between 3-5 years old, you may want to consider purchasing a new one.

Has anything changed recently? Did you install software or other updates that may have caused this issue?

When it goes to the screen that lets you choose Safe Mode, etc., do you have an option that reads "Last known good settings?" If so, choose that option to start the computer with.

TURNS ON , GOES TO START NORMAL OR SAFE MODE, GOES THRU THE WINDOWS XP SCREEN AND THEN GOES BLANK

Follow the steps below,

Step 1: Shut down your PC completely.
Step 2: Turn on the Power button.
Step 3: As soon as you turn it on start hitting the F8 key on your keyboard until you get to a black screen called "Windows Advanced option". (If you don't get to that that screen but you end up reaching the blue screen than that means you have delayed in hitting the F8 key. start again from step 1.)
Step 4: As soon as you reach "Windows Advanced option" use your down arrow keys to choose an option called "Safe Mode".
Step 5: Select that and HIT ENTER.

Step 6: If you able to login then try accessing System Restore.
Step 7: Click on Start and then click on All Programs.
Step 8: Choose Accessories and then System Tools and System Restore.
Step 9: Run the wizard by choosing "Restore My computer to an Earlier stage"
Step 10: Choose a date displayed in Bold in the calender.
Step 11: Your computer would reboot and wait until the restoration completes.

Hope this helps.

My laptop went off, turned it back on and it loads the advent screen, then it goes to the screen that says-''run in safe mode,,start windows normally etc. Tried all the options,,none of them work,,it wont go...

Your best bet is to replace the keyboard. They are cheap (under $20.00) and easy to replace. All other options involve making a bootable flash drive (more complicated and you still have a broken keyboard)

Wont get past Microsoft Windows XP loading screen on Acer Aspire1

Try start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. This should get you back.

Hello I wonder if you can help. When we switch

Had a similar problem like this several times. Try choosing safe mode. Safe mode will load the required drivers. After safe mode finishes the loading process, restart your computer and choose to start windows normally. The problem you mention usually happens when the computer is turned off without using normal shut down procedures. Also happens when you have a sudden power outage.

I cannot logon to my PC

Start your PC in safe mode, to do this repeatedly tap the F8 key as soon as you turn the power on. This will then bring up an "options" screen listing boot in safe mode, safe mode with network support etc. Just use safe mode. If it goes directly to windows instead - shut it off and try again til u get the safe mode screen. The arrow keys control the selection to choose. When it starts in safe mode a black screen will usually appear with a bunch of writing, this is normal, after that it may "hang" for as long as 5 minutes, before coming up with a login screen. Sometimes hitting enter or escape will bring up the login screen faster. When you have a login screen, login and disable the updates using the software control options for the software that is trying to update. You might also go to control panel, administrator options, then services and disable automatic updates temporarily. When your pc starts in safe mode - it starts with minimal drivers and does not run updates- this allows you to change settings. You can then reboot normally and it should start properly without updating before starting.

Computer keeps returning to "safe mode" options screen

If you choose Start Normal and it boots into safe mode again then you should get professional help if you value any of the files on your computer and don't want to loose any data.

Computer will not start past safe mode option screen

I would recommend you try to do a installation repair. Do so by booting from the Windows install CD and choosing the repair option.
