Several GSM712 Netgear Switchs where donated to our school. However we do not have the passwords to manage them. How can I restore to factory defaults or recover the password?
Netgear GSM switches have an RS232 serial console port. Connect to that using Hyperterm, PuTTY, Xterm etc. at 9600-8-N-1, and power up the switch. Early in the boot process, it will give you a choice of normal operation, or the boot menu. Select the boot menu before the time runs out (usually a couple seconds), and one of the options will be to reset the switch configuration, including the password.
As far as I know, there is no way to recover the password and leave the configuration intact.
As far as I know, you'll need Netgear's help to recover the passwords and they'll only help if you have a Premium support contract.
Try "1234" as this is the default if password protection is enabled.
Good luck!
You can hit the factory reset button on the router to reset the router password.
