No you don't have to wind this watch..it is a quartz movement powered by a battery...the only thing the crown is used for is resetting the time and date, you are probably thinking of a mechanical watch which is powered by a mainspring...:)

The battery model number that needs to be replaced should be located on the outside of the back side of the wrist watch and if not you can always open the watch up and look and see what model number is on the gbattery itself. If the battery is not the problem then you may need to take your watch in and have a professional person to look at it. Hope this helps you.

SOURCE: keeping 2008 breitling cockpit watch running

You have to wind the watch till it is fully wound (significant resistance should be felt).
It doesn't matter how many times you wind it (1 or even 40) - what matters is the strength of the spring.
Do as follows:
At any time in the morning wind the watch up till you feel there is no more winding left (should be quite tough). Memorize the time you did it.
Leave the watch (or wear it) till it stops completely.
Count the hours your watch did work (from the time you wound it).
Now you know exact power reserve for your watch.
It is advised to wind the watch 2-3 hours before the power reserve is gone.

SOURCE: Dont know how many time to wind it

until it begins to feel just slightly taunt,Do NOT over wind a wind-up wrist watch, if its a self winding you should just have to walk in it to wind it. here is a link to a pdf of your manual which has winding procedures, Good luck Jon click here

How do I wind a McGregor hunt club quartz watch?

As far as I know, any "quartz" watch will be run by a battery, not by a spring you can wind. If it's stopped, you need to replace the battery.

The tissot visodate watch is automatic not battery driven.

I would not wind the watch manually. I also have a Tissot. If you cannot wear it often enough to keep it going, you can purchase a watch box that is made for self-winding watches which will turn the watch periodically in order to keep it wound.

My watch is not working,,is there a battery i must change?

Your watch is a self winding type and does not contain a battery.

To wind it up, swing it from side to side gently for a few minutes (this operates the self winding mechanism).

Self winding watches thrive on use and will only run for 2-3 days if not worn.

Does my watch have a battery or do i have to wind it? I tried winding it but it still isnt working I just want to be sure before i bring it to a repair shop. I thank you in advance. Thomas

mcdevito75 here, If you try to wind your watch listen for the distinctive click, click as you wind, if you haer this click, click then it"s a a windup, if the stem just turns without the distinctive sound click, click. then it"s a battery watch, also look for any word on the watch that says Quartz. ONE more thing, you may have a screw down cover on the winding stem, un screw the cover on the stem to get to (the crown, winding stem itself) Most likely you have to un-screw this cover on the stem to get to the actuall stem itself, Invicta makes watches like this to add waterproofing to the watch.

I bought it new and then a few weeks later the battery seemed to stop. I did not wear it often. I heard some watches do not use battery and function with the movement of one's arm. Is this the case for...

If the watch is a self winding type, then it generally says "automatic" on the face. These will run for about 2-3 days if they are not worn, as the self winding action only works when the user is moving).

Battery driven watches should run for at least a year before needing a replacement, so if it has stopped already, it could be self winding or manually wound type. Some self winding watches can be manually wound so you could try this to see if it starts.

Why do all watches stop shortly after i put them on?

Tghere are really only two reasons a watch will stop unless they are damaged or wet inside. If it's a quartz watch the battery needs replacement. If it's a mechanical watch you have to wind it - even if it's a "self-winding" movement wind it to get it started. Turn the crown about 40 turns clockwise.

Is it good to change watch movement to a battery ?Watch was overwound.

Hi,

There is no such things as over winding a watch. If it is not an automatic watch then the watch will wind until it stops. If the watch does not run then something else is wrong.

If the watch is an automatic then about 30 winds will fully wind the watch. But, you can continue to wind the watch forever. It will never stop winding. Again, if it does not run after being wound there is something else wrong.

To fix your watch you need to have a qualified watchmaker repair it for you.

Hope this helps,

Ken

Have old Mickey Mouse self winding watch. Bought

I will explain from the last question asked. To get it going you have to visit your nearest watch repair shop and ask for estimate. Shop owner told you things he/she do not understand at all - self winding watches CAN NOT BE OVERWOUND, so, there is the question: are you sure this watch is self winding? I've experience of 26 years of watchmaking and have never came across Mickey Mouse watches having self winding movements. As far as I know, all MM watches are battery driven, but in case if you really have the mechanical one - you are lucky. That means there were past times when those watches were fitted with mechanical movements and now they are rarities. Even if your watch is not self winding, but is mechanical (not battery driven), visit your nearest watch repair shop and ask to check this watch out. In case if it is mechanical - pay the money and get it fixed (you will be a winner anyway). If it is battery driven - put it on your shelf where your's mother in law picture is and treat it accordingly. Rate me , plz.
