DVD drive ''Free'' Region code does not play Region 1 DVD

I have a new Acer aspire 5536 notebook. When using Acer Arcade Delux to play a movie it says that the Region code is incorrect. The computer DVD is set at ''FREE'' and the dvd Region code is 1. The movie plays ok when I use Windows Vista media player. Can you advise how to get Arcade to see Region 1 without changing the Region Code? I am only allowed 5 changes.
thanks
Jim

You cannot see region 1 movies unless you change the region code, its designed this way as an anti piracy measure.

There are some region limitations for your player. You can download some other region free players on your pc. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Player for free. This is a region free player and it can play any kind of DVD and Blu-ray discs.

Im not able to play my dvd when i insert the dvd in the dvd drive

Does this happen on all DVDs and CDs or only on some DVDs?
If this is happens on all DVDs and CDs then this drive is faulty and needs to be replaced.
If it only occurs on some DVDs then check the region code on the DVD player and the region code on the DVD, the region codes must match.
To play DVDs from any region the player needs to be a region free player or you need to install a region free program on your notebook/computer.
For details on making your DVD player region free, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

How to play Blu-ray movie on 5536G?

Arcade Deluxe is nothing more than a **** media center with a useless media player in it - get rid of it. If you want to play BR disks there are 2 options: either install a good codec pack like http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=5748&s=775 an use WMP or install and use VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

Laptop dvd drive region locked in R1, need to be mostly R2

keep in mind you can only change the region 5 times and cannot change it anymore after that (regarless to windows reinstallation , its a hardware thing) you might wanna consider purchasing "dvd region free" or use a 3rd party region free firmware to bypass that

dvd region free - http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm
3rd party firmware - http://www.rpc1.org

Hoe do i make my acer aspire 5315 laptop region free

To change the Region code on your DVD player, open Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device manager, and click on DVD/CD ROM drives, then right click on the DVD drive and click Properties then click on DVD Region.
You can enter a new region and it also shows you how many changes have been made.
NOTE you can make only 4 changes and the player will lock permanently on the 4th change.
If you want to play DVD from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmware to make it region free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrong firmware the player will be a piece of junk.
The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece of software that allows you to play DVDs from any region. There are several available on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free

Driver of blu ray for my aspire 5536

The standard specs for all of the 5536 models show equipped with a Super-Multi drive which capable of many CD and DVD formats including double layer DVD. However, I don't see support for Blu-Ray.

You could add an external Blu-Ray that connects to USB or FireWire (1394).

My blu-ray player on my acer aspire 6920 isnt reading a blu-raY MOVIE I JUST BOUGT

i`m pressuming you are in the uk ? if so !

Go to acer arcade deluxe
select "Play Movie"
Select "settings"
select "BD settings"
Select "region code"
Select "region B" for the UK

Important Note!:
You can only change your region !!! 5 !!!! times!
that is 5 times!
I am totally stressing this.....5 times!

You may have to do this a second time so your computer locks on to this region code.
If you watch an american blu-ray vid, on the fifth change of the region code your computer locks to this region !FOREVER!

Region setting on Acer Aspire 8920

Older DVD drives use RPC-1 firmware, which means the drive allows DVDs from any region to play. Newer drives use RPC-2 firmware, which enforces the DVD region coding at the hardware level. These drives can often be reflashed with hacked or Australia and New Zealand (hardware region coding prohibited by law in these countries) RPC-1 firmware, effectively making the drive region-free. However, this usually voids the warranty and can render the drive inoperable if something goes wrong... better contact your laptop manufacturer regarding this
