I had a Epson printer that would not print or even allow me to use the scanner because the colored ink was out. Even though I had full black ink, it still would not let me print until i replaced the colored ink.
Typically you do not have to change the color cartridge when you replace the black cartridge.
As far as the spotty printing, it sounds like you have some clogged nozzles caused by the lower quality of ink in refilled or aftermarket cartridges. There cartridge inks may not be up to specification. This is especially true for the ultra fine printers.
To clear the problem you need to insert an OEM cartridge, run the deep nozzle cleaning utiliity at least twice followed by the alignment utility. This should clear up the problem with the spotty and washed out printout. Let me know if this solves your problem otherwise we can explore other solutiions.
For the record, which printer do you have? Please rate this solution. Thanks.
My printer does the same thing. I changed the blank ink yesterday (the printer shows the black ink was low) however after trying and trying and not being able to complete the alignment I decided to change the color ink as well. It worked. Printer works fine now. Sometimes the ink dries up and you have to change it even though you know it should last longer. Give it a try and let me know. [email protected]
If a cartridge is expended, you must replace it to be able to print. If a cartridge is low, you can continue printing until a cartridge needs replacement. You cannot print or copy when an ink cartridge is expended even if the other cartridges are not expendedI have come across this issue many times and unforunately you have to replace the colour carts in order to continue to use the printer.
I have had the same frustrating problem.
I cntacted the Kodak live web chat help line and after removing the print head, switching the machine off for 1 min and reconnecting.Clean heads and recalibrate.
.....Still the same.
They then told me the print head was faulty and to contact Kodak for free repalcement.
as u have ran out of ink you cant print anymore... you have to replace a new ink cartridge.... this is because when u print something, the colors will get mixed to print the exact color.... even if u are printing only in black, some other colors wil get mixed to produce the black color on the paper... so u need to change the ink cartridge.... u cannot run with a blank filled ink cartridge.... and the selection of your printer is very good...
