Various issues could cause this. If you are a tech. Or know one

1 If the ring around the power plug is lit:

  • Check MOSFETs on the front end. Both sides - Usually AO4407 or AO4422 to the bottom surface (which faces up when opened), and FDS6679 on top surface, just below the square power plug from DC Jack.
  • Check the black ribbon cable connecting the power board to the motherboard. (the left cable is for power) It could be unseated, or fine connectors broken, or ribbon has break in leads.
  • Check to see if you can turn it on with remote control if your model has one.

2: if the ring is not lit,
  • check your AC Adapter
  • check the wall plug (mains in UK)

    Additionally
    If the power supply is known good, and the ring around the dc jack does not light, it is typically the FDS6679 under the tape on the bottom side of the board, at the power in connector.

How do i turn on my internal mic hp pavillon 6000
Go to START->CONTROL PANEL->SOUND
Click on the RECORDING tab, click on the mic that you want to use. Click on the SET DEFAULT button.

Is heatsink connected to this problem? (sic) Most probably not, it is more than likely a simple Driver problem. Try to startup in SAFE MODE, press F8 at boot time. If this works you could run a "System Restore" back to a time before it went faulty. Or troubleshoot from safe desktop.
