Maytag dishwasher rinse aid dispenser never empties

My dishwasher was purchased in 2001. I am getting hard water filming and would like to use a rinse aid to get rid of the film. I have filled the dispenser with Jet Dry yet it never empties. I even tried running a cycle with the lid completely unscrewed. It looks like the lid should be loosely attached and the rinse aid should come out the same hole I put it in. Any ideas?

Not sure about the rinse agent but the film is caused by hard water.

LG Inverter Direct Drive, at the end of the cycle there is a grey -white residue on everything, interior, glasses, pots n pans. We use Cascade packets and Rinse-aid. Please help!!

The packets usually have detergent and rinse aid together, built in. If you also have liquid rinse aid in the automatic dispenser, you are getting a double dose, and that is causing the film. Use standard dishwasher detergent until the automatic rinse aid dispenser is empty, or at least turn the pointer indicator (located by the rinse agent filler) to the lowest setting possible to help somewhat.

Maytag DWU8330AAX: glasses, plates, utensils,

Hi,

The rinse cycle is the same as the wash except the wash uses detergent and the rinse uses rinse aid.

The rinse cycle will dispense rinse aid if you have filled the dispenser. Check this first, that would be the most likely cause. Also in the spring as the water table table in most cities begins to rise the water quality goes down, extra calcium in the water can cause this problem.

Here is a link to help understand that. Let me know if you have questions.

The dishwasher isnt rinsing properly anymore. We are getting a white film left on the dishes.

check water quality. If dish washer salt needed add it to the dispenser provided.Salt softens the hard water.

Check rinser liquid availability in the dispenser. Refer user manual for location

How does the Rinse Aid part of the FDB2000RFS1 dishwasher work? We got one donated to our non-profit organization and found all our dishes are coming out with a dry film all over them. I believe we have...

Rinse aid is only effective if you have good quality water to start with. With hard water being the issue, you still won't resolve the film problem.

You can either put in a water softener, which I suspect isn't an economical answer just to get cleaner (film less dishes) or you can allow the dishes to air dry instead of using the heated dry setting in an attempt to avoid getting a film on the dishes.

You can try to use the rinse aid, but I'm pretty sure it won't affect the water quality issues you got, since you have hard water to start with - nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Just remove the cap for the rinse aid dispenser and with the door all the way open, pour in about 1/4 to 1/2 of the bottle and replace the cap.

Here's link to your manual that you can download for free, just scroll down and select the correct manual for your model number and click on the link.

Dishes aren't clean. i have run vingegar and CR through the cycle but dishes and glasses still have a film.

The most common cause of film left behind is a broken heating element.

The heating element is not only used during the dry cycle, but also to raise the water temp. during the main wash cycle to activate the dishwasher detergent. Fixing the heating element should "clear" this problem right up!
