Bucket Full light stays on but bucket is not full

Been running fine all summer and last year as well. Today the "bucket full" light comes on. I am not really using the bucket, since it is draining into a hose, but I removed and reinserted the bucket anyway. No go. I removed the bucket and manually held in the red bucket-position button - still no go. If the machine has been off for a while, when I turn it on the fan will start for about 2 seconds then shut down with the bucket full light and 5 beeps repeated 3 times. Is this a diagnostic beep code and if so what does it mean? My next step would be to remove the switch and short the wires together (assuming that pushing in the button closes the contacts) or removing the wires (assuming that pushing the button opens the contacts. Any other suggestions?

Thanks...

    Update:

I removed the switch and shorted the wires - still no go. This sounds to me more like the compressor or control unit. Besides the 3 sets of 5 beeps, the display marked Present chows a code CH and the display marked Set shows 01. Does anyone know what these codes mean?

    Thanks again...

    Peter

When full bucket light comes on water is emptied and bucket put back in position. Fan will start and then the full bucket light comes back on beeps and shuts off.

You have to be sure bucket is replaced exactly where it should go or the bucket will hold the switch in, thinking it is full. If you have a floor drain close by,remove the bucket and set the dehumidifier over or next to drain so water will go down it,then you don't worry about bucket getting full.If it doesn't run with bucket off, maybe defective switch. unhook wires to the bucket switch and hook or tape together,if dehumidifier runs then switch is bad. UNPLUG FROM OUTLET BEFORE DOING THIS. IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ELECTRICITY GET QUALIFIED HELP!!

I have a garrison #043-5451-4 water never drains out tube but wooden floor has lifted from water. I have tiped over the unit to remove the water. There is no manual or user intrusions and the furthest icon...

The bucket may be installed improperly causing the full bucket indicator to not function. Examine the unit to see if the bucket has a float or other device for detecting when it is full.

The "full bucket" light is blinking- and the

When the Bucket Full Light is on, none of the controls (other than the On/Off) will work. If you haven't
emptied the bucket, do so. Then make sure the bucket is reinstalled properly into the holder. Failure to do this will cause the Bucket Full Light to stay ON. While you have the bucket out, check the inside of it for a float valve. It may be stick in the UP position. If so, jiggle the handle to make it return to the DOWN position.

Red light comes on for no reason. Danby DDR6588EE dehumidifier

I have a DDR4588EE (same model with 45 pint capacity) and had the exact same problem. It's caused by the float at the top of the bucket being in poor contact with the "full" detector button. When the bucket is not full, the float on the bucket is supposed to press against the button. When the bucket fills, the float is supposed to push up off the button which causes the unit to stop and the red light comes on. The problem is that for some reason, the float isn't pressing hard enough against the button to push it properly in when the bucket isn't full. I fixed it by sticking a few little squares of duct tape (3 or 4 layers) on the float to make it press the button more firmly. Seems to be working fine now. Careful not to put too much tape or it might press too firmly which would result in the float not releasing the button when the bucket is full, and water will spill over.

Auto shut off

Try re-seating the bucket. I have found some LG models that if not seated all of the way will sometimes keep running and think the bucket is not full even when it is. On the models that I have seen do it the problem is usually the left side of the bucket not engaging all of the way. When you reseat the bucket, feel where the bucket meets the dehumidifier on each side and make sure they are even. If one feels like it is sticking out further than the other and you cannot push it in any more pull the bucket out and try and reseat it again until both sides are flush with the dehumidifier. If you found this solution helpful please rate it.
