Sounds like the battery is discharged. It will probably have to be connected via USB cable to your computer overnight before it will be able to be charged by your car adapter again.

Gamin nuvi 1450 wonot start and the gamin express cannot recognize it

Your Nuvi has to boot past the Garmin logo to the main screen before it can be recognized by your PC. Is the unit dead? The Nuvi 14xx series is well known for its problem with the rear USB port coming loose. This will prevent the unit from receiving power from the external charger and will prevent the battery from being charged. If the unit goes into a boot-up loop, displaying the Garmin logo then shuts down, this is often caused by corrupted files, such as a map or bad firmware update. See these two links for more info:

Either buy a new one or return to Garmin for repair.

Hook up your Nuvi to your computer and go to the Garmin site and download the latest driver software to the 680.

Just quits

I had the same problem (blank screen, vertical line). Per Garmin, turn off the WAAS function. Disable it for now, because the government has changed the WAAS signal coming from the satillite, and Garmin has not yet come out with a remedy to correct this problem yet. It should be out in a software update sometime in the future...............I did this and it corrected my problem immediately. The unit performs perfectly now, however, the accuracy is not as good, due to the lack of WAAS.......................

1.Under the face plate by the Garmin Logo.Use your thumbnail to remove the plate.
2.Press the reset button.

Blank Screen on Garmin E-Trex Vista

Yes, this problem has been caused by the launch of a new satellite earlier this year. As soon as your unit gets a fix from the new satellite, it causes this problem. Simple immediate fix: disable WAAS in the setup. Permanent fix: go to Garmin website and update your unit's software and it will fix this temporary problem. Enjoy your GPS and don't forget to come back and tell us if this fixed your problem.

Garmin chart plotter not booting up.

Hi again,

Appreciate the update. Incidentally, most batteries for this purpose are Lithium 3 volts, coin size. Often, battery removal also performs a reset if not replaced immediately.

Though my money is really on the firmware.
