Device says I have over 27 gb of content, but when I try to play it tells me Artist, Album, etc. lists are empty. I tried refreshing, nothing. FM radio not affected.
Several possibilities: When you first synced your player to Windows Media Player, you may have set up the automatic sync option. When this option is selected, Windows Media Player will add EVERY song, picture, etc from your Library on your computer to the player. Now, every time you sync you device, it adds every new file from your computer into the player automatically. It will even delete songs from your player that were on there before. Go into Windows Media Player 11 with your player connected to the computer (it will automatically sync and add new files one last time), move the mouse cursor over to the sync tab; a small black arrow will appear under the word "Sync"; click on the small black arrow and a dropdown menu will appear; select "Portable media device" from the dropdown menu, and another dropdown menu will appear; select "Set Up sync"; a window will appear with some information on your device - uncheck the box that says "Sync this device automatically"; click Finish; This will eliminate the problem of Windows always adding/deleting songs/files you don't want into your player. If this does not work, then: Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution. 1) Back up all files on the GoGear 2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) 3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button 4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

Songbird is unauthorized free music download website. Because they arent part of a large music selling company, they are more likely not to have the correct formats set for mp3 players or other music devices. You have to have the right formats to get organization for the songs to match with correct artist and album. Example: If there is a song that has format WMV and the song's album is format WAV,then its gonna confuse your music device, so the music device will put the WMV format song with the wrong WMV format album in its alphabetical order instead of the songs matching album WMV format. So restore your mp3 player and try to use a legalized music download website.
be sure that you have already saved a list of song on your playlist. and for the pdf also make sure that there was a file that save on that location...

You check your songs from your computer first; Right click on one of songs, select Properties, select Summary tab (check Artist, Album Title, and Title). If they are there, you should update new firmware (search SANDISK FORUM from google). If they are empty, it's right for device display the filename.
In the music menu, there is an option to search by Artist or Album as long as you have at least one song on the player that has an ID3 tag that lists the song's artist or album. Those are the only way of organizing the songs on this particular player.
If you use a fileshare program to download music, sometimes some of the song information is changed and/or deleted. The album information is probably still with the song, but the artist info isn't. It's really stupid but the only thing you can do is just find the song through albums instead of artist.
