Thanks, but no luck. I can access all Menu's except the "Replace Toner". After selecting Menu & Replace Toner, nothing happens when I click the right menu arrow to cycle through the toner to replace except that the Please wait.... msg. appears & then the 010-397 Restart Printer comes up after a few secs. The black is actually out as it needed replacing & I intended to replace it after clearing the fuser paper jam but can't get the black to move to the front at this point. Is there a manual way to move the cartridges?

I would Hold down the "Menu" and "Cancel" Button then for "Reset Printer" ,Turn Off the Printer remove the cartridges then reset them again. Along with the Drum Unit. Something is Not Seating properly
start thier first.

Try messing around with the setup screen. You can access it by holding the 'menu' and 'cancel' buttons and turning it on (like ctrl, alt, delete). Might be something to do with the drum assembly.

I hope this helps,

I get an error message that there is a paper jam in the front door, there is no jam. I open and close the front door and then it says the jame is in the fuser, ive taken that out and no jam hp 3550 laser...

Often when you get this error, there is a jam that is very difficult to see. You need to open the printer, remove the bottom two cartridges and the transfer belt. Then close the door part way and look straight down inside the printer. That part of the printer is called the registraion assembly and there is a paper sensor in there that often gets stuck with a small piece of paper after a paper jam is removed. You can carefully lift up on that assembly to unseat it and have a look underneath..

Dell 3000CN Laser Priner

Removed the fuser unit and also removed the left hand side panel to access the gearing mechanism.

Manually rotated the gearing a number of times thru 360 degress. This appears to have cleared whatever was causing the printer to detect a paper jam although there was no obvious sign of bits of paper or even dust build up.

202 pam jam

usually it means that a sensor in your fuser is bad. If you have a P.M. Kit replaced the fuser and clean the printer.

but before you do, make sure that you have cleared all jams, including in the fuser.

Its probably time for a Preventive Maintanence

Will not restart 010-397 states restart printer

I had same problem and called Dell- The 010 errors are all related to the fuser (the thing at the top rear of the 3100) All they had me do was open the rear top cover, pull the outer blue clips and "unplug" or remove and reinstall the fuser. That cleared the error.

Paper transport does not work; terrible grinding noise

I took mine apart from the back and put it back together and it worked. It is probably due to moving it and the bottom paper tray alignment gets out of whack. I inspected all of the gear train and didn't find any worn or missing teeth. I suspect a paper jam started it and the user turned the printer around to open the back door. Since the handles are on the printer the tray doesn't move with it which allows it to separate and possibly jam a pickup drive gear.

Paper Jam

Check carefully, maybe you have just small peace of paper on the sensor actuator.I suggest to inspect whole path of paper.

Paper jams

Hi, 2 things to check. First when you lift and close the toner door, do the exit rollers on top of the printer turn for a couple of seconds. You just put your fingers where the paper comes out and see if they turn. If they do not then you may have a fuser or coupling gear isse. The other thing is to try and feed the paper from the manual feeder and see if it goes thur. If it does you have a sensor issue on the paper input unit and a sensor board will have to be replaced. If the exit rollers are not turning and the paper does not make it into the fuser, I would suspect one of the gears on the fuser has failed. Remove the fuser and inspect the gears and I am sure you will find the problem. Good Luck
