I had to downgrade my operating system from Snow Leopard back to Leopard as the former was simply non-functional, causing endless crashes. I reinstalled 10.5 and everything works fine except Acrobat Pro version 9. I have tried reinstalling it from the original disks but it crashes soon after I launch the application. I have tried deleting all the files that seem to be related to Acrobat to no avail. Any ideas? GReg

I am assuming that this question mark appears whenever you try to turn on your computer.
What this means is that your computer doesn't have an operating system installed.
Simply insert Disc 1 that came with your computer, or any Apple Operating System such as Tiger, Leopard, or Snow Leopard into your disc drive. Then turn off your computer.
Turn your computer back on while holding the Option (alt) key and a CD icon should appear. Click that and your computer will now boot from the OS DVD.
Follow the onscreen instructions to re-install an operating system onto your computer.

You can get the postscript printer driver here, assuming your printer has the postscript option installed. Also other note is that this driver only supports up to the Leopard operating system (10.5). No drivers yet for Snow Leopard (10.6). The installer crashes when trying to install on 10.6

Yes it is very easy to do as you are running a Mac with Intel Processor. You have Mac OSx Leopard with updates 1,2, & 3. To upgrade to Mac OSx Snow Leopard you must buy the upgrade. Go here: http://www.apple.com/macosx/ On the top right click (Buy Now) You will have to pay $29 which is a bargain. Once you get the upgrade on CD simply follow the directions for the simple upgrade. I did the same thing when Snow Leopard came out. It is well worth the $29.

Do you have the proper driver installed on the new O/S ??
If the O/S doesnt know what the DVX100b is - it cannot communicate with it.

Here's a work-around that someone has posted online... Check this out and see if it's of any benefit for your printer...

Snow Leopard has a bunch of drivers built in to control various printers.  If it doesn't recognize the printer, then you will have to go on Agfa's web site to see if they have a printer driver compatible with Snow Leopard.  Keep in mind that Snow Leopard is a new OS and that printer manufacturers will take some time to update their programs and drivers to run on it.  If you don't find a driver then, you got to use a different printer or downgrade your OS to one that will run the printer.

As you are not the first with this problem it would appear that all scan functions with HP and Snow Leopard are inompatible and not just on this model.

Apple's next major Mac OS X released, will focus solely on under-the-bonnet changes, the Mac maker has revealed. PowerPC-based machines might be left in the cold?

Apple is promising a version of Mac OS X that "dramatically" reduces the amount of storage space the operating system requires. Undoubtedly, some of that will come from the re-engineered core technologies, but it's hard to conclude that Snow Leopard's release will come not as a "universal" binary capable of running on both Intel and PowerPC processors, but as a single-platform product.

Universality has been handy in ensuring users can run the same installed code on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs without resorting to emulation. But just as Leopard lacks the ability to run Mac OS 9 apps - a feature present in previous Mac OS X releases - there will come a time when Apple drops Rosetta, its PowerPC emulation mechanism.

Early rumours concerning Snow Leopard suggested PowerPC support was to be dropped, though that was subsequently denied by Apple.

How can these two claims be reconciled? Only by Apple shipping native-only versions of Snow Leopard. Owners of Intel-based Macs will finally be free of all that redundant PowerPC code in the system software, freeing up space for, as Apple puts it, "their music and photos".

With any luck, Apple will finally allow users to readily remove unwanted languages from their system software, a process that can free up a fair bit of hard drive space too.

Apple won't be ditching support for universal binaries, or PowerPC Macs, because there, for now, too many of them out there. But if Snow Leopard's Grand Central technology does as promised and improves the OS' ability to work with multi-core CPUs, Intel-based Macs are going to shoot even further ahead of old G5 and G4 models.

Apple is also promising that Snow Leopard will offer more pervasive support for 64-bit computing, leading to the ability to support up to 16TB of memory, though the motherboard hardware to do this isn't there yet. In any case, limits to CPU memory controllers mean they don't physically support the full range of 64-bit memory addresses, only a subset.

Snow Leopard will also feature QuickTime X, a "streamlined" revamp of Apple's multimedia foundation, and OpenCL (Open Compute Library), a non-proprietary programming system for running complex code on a machine's graphic chip(s).

Oh, and it'll get Microsoft Exchange support too, in a bid to make Macs more business-friendly.
