Canon EOS Rebel XT Error 05 or BUSY

The Error 05 means the build in flash cannot be raised.
In the moment it should pop up, something was blocking the free movement. Could be caused by the way you were holding the camera. Could be happening, while you were pressing the flash button, or when you are in the basic zone shooting mode, such as portrait, which needs the use of the flash.
Switch the camera off an then on again. Move an eventually cause of the blocking and press the shutter realise button again.

Error 05 flash doesn't pop up

spray a very very small amount of WD40 on the hings of pop up flash (use the thin RED spray tube)

Error 05 on canon eos 550 d

tryed everyones sugestions for erros 05.3 clicks but non worked until i took the flash cover of by takeing 2 screws out very easy and then loosenedthe screw with the spring until flash moved freely

Check if something is blocking the in-built flash to pop up or if it is stuck. If the flash is stuck press the flash pop-up button and try pulling it up simultaneously.

I am getting this message on my EOS 450d, (camera's built in flash pop up was obstructed turn the power switch to off and on again). I have done this several times the flash wont pop up - can you please...

Sometimes the pop-up flash on the EOS range of cameras can get stuck. The EOS family have a very tiny micro switch under one blade of the flash hot-shoe.

Get a toothpick and manually pop the switch. It should clear your error, too.

Canon EOS 350D flashes error 05 and flash won't pop up

I had the same problem but found that manually popping the flash up about 10 or 12 times restored the auto pop-up function.

I receive error 05, it makes a few clicks then error message apears asking me to restart the camera. This i have done many times without success. It is a new camera and has not been dropped

error 05 is a flash popup error. the pop up silonoid is acting up or being blocked. we fix this all the time

Had the same issue and just tried this....and it worls [PS dont use the littel plastic hotshoe cover as this keeps the microswitch depressed]

Occasionally I get 'ERROR 5' appear on the display on my EOS 450D - it is suggested that the pop-up flash is being impeded, but I know that it isn't. What is happening?

This is a common canon mechanical error.

Most of there SLRS do this the release inside the pop up flash hangs either due to weak spring or release catch itself. If it hangs for even a split second you get error code.

Try This.

Clean Flash Release & Apply wd-40 with a q-tip to moving parts. DO NOT SPRAY INTO CAMERA. Use oil lightly.
Or Assist flash when it tries to p up by lifting on flash gently. Maybe one day canon will fix this problem.

PS this happens to even Brand new Canons.

I have had the same problem with my 450D. I have been living without flash on my cam for a month. Until I realized that maybe something liquid and sticky by chance got where the flash is...so i just trid to hold uo the flash my insrting my nail into the small space between the flash and the camera and tried to press the flash button. IT WORKED!!!

I have a canon eos 450D when i attach a sigma 70-300mm dl lens i get error 1, communication between camera and lens failed check contacts, however when i switch the camera off and on again and check the memory card the picture has taken and is stored on the memory card. also i have checked the contacts and they are clean
