The 25 digit number on the base of the computer is for Windows XP or Vista, and not Microsoft Office. The Produckt Key you're looking for is usually found on the packaging of the MS Office DVD or on a card that is also included in the packaging.

I have bought a new laptop Acer Aspire 5542, I have tried to do some account and letters and everytime I open it tells me to put in the 25 digit number which is located on the bottom of the laptop the...

Have a close look at the numbers and letters with a magnifing glass. It is difficult to distinguish between 6 & G, 0 & O, 8 & B etc.
The 25 digit product code you have quoted could be for the Windows installation (the label states which product it is for) and won't work for MS Office. Is there another installation product code for Microsoft Office? It may be in your documentation.
Failing that you will need to contact Microsoft for a product installation code.

Im trying to register my garmin 780 but the computer can't find the serial number

The serial number is on the bottom of the unit where the cradle connections are. It's on a gray decal. You may need a magnifying glass to read it. It should be like "17D..........".

I assume you are trying to connect the wires from the faceplate to the motherboard. Get a magnifying glass and see if the board is marked as to Power, Speaker, HDD LED, Reset, etc. Trace the wires to the faceplate and note what the function of each pair of wires is and attach to motherboard as necessary.

Err 02

I've had the same problem for 3 years. First, take the cf card and turn the camera on. Does it come on? Can you use the menu, etc.? If so, turn it off and look inside the cf slot with a magnifying glass. There should be 2 rows of pins (50 altogether) and see if any are bent. That may be your problem. Mine is actually a bit worse. There are apparently only 48 pins in mine. Two opposite (kittycorner) pins are missing. Don't know where they went. But there you are.

I have a Sony DCR-260 and I have the operating manual but I lost the computer manual and the cable that came with it. How do I download videos to a PC?

hi there
based on your camcorder model number it is digital 8 based, so assuming you are using digital 8 tapes you will need a firewire lead (£5) ish. you will also need a firewire input on your p.c. if you havn't got one you can get a card for about £10 and fit it yourself. its not hard, honest !
if you are using ordinary 8mm tapes you will need an anologue video card, bit more expensive but easy to fit. video editing software will be needed, try pinnacle studio version 7/8/9/ on e bay, should be less than £20.

hope this helps

Firewire connection not responding

Take a magnifying glass to the firewire port on the camera. Check to see if it looks damaged at all. I've used firewire with my students for many years and this has happened to me on more than one occasion. The student is not as careful as he could be when plugging in the cable. The inside of the firewire cable becomes damaged. This is a cheap fix. Buy a new cable. However, when the port is damaged, it is an expensive fix. Since the computer recognizes another camcorder it may not be the computer. And if you are using the same cable, then it will probably be a hardware issue with the camera. Look at the port and let me know if anything looks out if place.
