Hi tallyman,
you lost bet ...when it has a bluetooth switch it will have a hardware installed.
Best solution is got is a simple call to acer service support,the problem very very simple in 5738 machines they installed foxcom bluetooth device a very much updated version.But the drives in your cd will be broadcom drivers install aspire 3810T model bluetooth drivers.

It's probably because there's no bluetooth module installed - the 5738 has a bluetooth switch but no hardware. Check the specs of your laptop & I'll bet you won't see bluetooth mentioned.

    Sorry, didn't lose bet, definitely got a switch but no bluetooth module. Acer will supply for £20 odd but it's not the easiest bit of kit to fit so haven't bothered yet.

If you do not have a white sticker on your laptop with" Bluetooth" stated your machine does not have one, only the ability to run one once installed, check the acer website for details, downloading lots of drivers will not work if you have no module installed, most do not.

First of all check if your Laptop has the bluetooth feature. If it has then the driver should have been automatically installed. There is a button in your laptop, make sure that the bluetooth is on.

Yes! you can install and run XP OS. Please remember the manufacturers of the VGA, sound, LAN etc of your laptop as you will be needing them to search for drivers later. Follow the link below to download appropriate drivers preferably before you install XP.

Yes you can, good choice. one thing the comment above me didnt mentioned was that you need to change the settings on your disk in BIOS to native IDE and not sata.(if sata the windows installation doesent find your DISKS.) good luck

most acer and Toshiba Laptops dont have bluetooth but only wireless.
Thats why it may install everythi)ng but may not show the device.

How do I enable my bluetooth on my Acer Aspire 5738z laptop? There is a bluetooth button on the top left hand corner of the laptop but nothing happens when I press it only an image of the bluetooth appeas...
Make sure you have the driver for the bluetooth installed http://support.acer.com/us/en/drivers_download.aspx
here is a link to the driver downlod page. You can check it by going into System Properties then click on Hardware tab to see if it is installed properly. (right click on My Computer Icon and select Properties to get to the System Properties)

You will probably have to look on the net for a driver that is compatible with windows 7 for your bluetooth device. If you cant find one designed for windows 7 you could try a driver made for vista as many vista drivers work for windows 7 devices as well

I had the same problem. BG2046 , Acer DVD was not able to solve the problem (Aspire 5738 ) I downloaded the update from Acer.co.in and then forced a have disk install of the driver from downloaded driver. Which installed my Bluetooth.
